I saw someone saying this is a trans character. I was immediately suspicious, and I went to look up some English gameplay. Sure enough, the voice in English sounds very feminine. The voice actor is Casey Mongillo, a non-binary who uses they/them pronouns. Based on Casey's voice and appearance, I say this is a biological woman, and she was recruited to voice Erik because of course they have to shove their activism into everything. In Japanese, it is very obvious by the voice that Erik is male. He is a typical Japanese pretty boy. These characters are quite common in Japanese entertainment, and there is no agenda here on the part of the creators. My recommendation is to play this game in Japanese with subtitles. The original Japanese dub will always better capture the intentions of the creators, especially if you know a little bit of Japanese.

I suggest you read my original post again very carefully, and then tell me where I was trying to "rile up the crowd." I simply gave information on the character to help eliminate potential confusion. Any further responses from me that could be misconstrued as "riling up the crowd" are simply reactions to unwarranted hostility and aggression directed at me.

Erik is what japanese tyically call "Ikemen", which roughly translates to "pretty boy".
It's a stereotype that has been in manga, anime and japanese videogames since the 80's.
I play the game with japanese audio and he also has a typical ikemen voice, which actually is mostly done by female voice actresses... but thats also very common in animes like dragonball, one piece or naruto for example (yes naruto's, luffy's and goku's VA's are all female).
I dont get why people try to label everything woke nowadays, even if it is not woke. Veilguard is woke, because Taash's character is completely written about her being trans. Personally I dont mind trans characters if the character is interesting otherwise. I mean its a capcom game and capcom also had Poison in final fight back in 1989, who is an oversexualized trans character. The difference compared to trans characters in real woke games, is that Poison isnt an insufferable snowflake mentioning being in trans at every possible opportunity.

"your whole belief system is rooted in absolute evil" = "I have the moral high ground and if you try to argue with me youre proving that you're a terrible person."

Both of which are statements meant to rile people up as they fight to defend themselves as "not a sissy because I work a desk job" on "not evil because I support basic human rights."
