Hunters are superhumans, not some random bums, you cant just "become" a hunter.
So why don't you just stay quiet, will ya?
Very right! There is very little hero worship. The Hunter(s) are doing a job, for their community, that many people have done before and will do after. They are functionally janitors, necessary and needed but rarely the focus.
It wasn't till World and Rise, particularly World with its removal of ecology intros for slow motion action scenes, that the Hunter was the center of the universe.
I find myself a little more off-put by the Hunter taking part in conversations. There being an implied tragic history and motivations other than what you, the player, had in mind (i.e. fight monsters, make grear). It places a barrier between the Hunter-You-Think-You-Are and the Hunter-They-Designed which is both unnecessary and ultimately adds nothing to the game.
The characters and story seems to have quite the western influence.
Oh, so now you're the official gatekeeper of MH lore? Hunters are highly trained, sure, but they’re not some mythical chosen ones, you can become a hunter through skill and training. Maybe take your own advice and stay quiet until you actually know what you're talking about.
The truth is that his character was not written for this game, it was forced into it.

Therein exactly lies the point, he was all over the place, first just wanted to kill, then found a form beauty in its existance followed by acceptance of what needed to be done. Seems like a pretty logical progression towards a certain end.
Could it have been better executed, most certainly. But the thread is there.
Your comment reminded me of Hardspace: Shipbreaker.
I just wanted to tear down spaceships, not listen to stupid pro union bs from characters I didn't like.
I wouldn't go that far, again this likely Capcom trying something new. These are my opinions, and I don't intend to change any. I do love Gemma, tho.
