Those of you with godlike PC systems... how is it for you?
I see a lot of the complaints going on are about bad performance but I assume that's going to be at least partially down to people trying to run it on outdated hardware.

I have a 4090 and i7 14700, 64GB of ram, and one of the fastest M2 SSDs.

Can I expect to have an enjoyable experience in this at the moment or should I wait?

4080S + 7800 X3D here and the game runs very smoothly with everything topped on 3440x1440. Now the game itself... is a 6/10 the most. The engine they used is not up to an open world game. There are better games for the buck, Zero Down, AC Odyssey, KCD2, etc etc etc.
7800x3D and a 3080 running at 4k. Lots of things I had to turn down to hit high 40's. Then I just got a 5080 and is now running at 70's with things turned to high. If I was gaming at 1440P I would have probably kept with the 3080 for another gen.
I can run it at around 60fps at 4K on ultra settings, and with framegen it goes up to around 140 I think, although I have it capped at 117. Your GPU is better than mine so I imagine you would have better performance? Just try running the benchmark.

4090 + 5800X3D here. It runs awful natively. The GPU should have more than enough power to render at 200% res scale @ 1080p. I get an average of 40-50 FPS that way.

Upon install, the settings defaulted to Ultra + DLSS 3.7 (Upscale: Quality Mode). Chose to leave frame gen OFF! It was... well I think it was still quite bad. 60 FPS in town, up to 80 or 90 in hunts. Or let's call it 70~80 FPS avg. Plus extremely inconsistent frame times.

After my first game crash a few hours in, I decided to finally adjust manually. TL;DR: FSR3+Frame Gen. Only now! The game runs at a level that I would call acceptable. Not good, not bad. But acceptable for what visuals vs. rig performance offer. Average of 130 FPS at all times. I could be mad that I can't even maintain 144 FPS @ 1080p with a high end card, but let's not beat a dead horse.

Detailed tweaks:
FSR3, Frame Generation, Upscaling: AMD Native AA, Sharpness: 70, Ray Tracing OFF
Texture: Highest (DLC Pack), Reduced Mesh to High, Fur to Low, Sky/Cloud to Medium, Grass to Medium, Shadow Quality to Medium, Distant Shadow Quality to LOW, Shadow Distance to Medium, Ambient Light Quality to LOW, Ambient Occulusion to Medium, SSSS Scattering Off, DOF OFF, Volumetric Fog to LOW, Variable Rate Shading Off.

I hope Capcom decides to target hire some talented and expensive engineers to mend this dumpster fire. It would only increase their reach as it would enable more people to play the game on PC.
maximilian dood was playing and FSR gives you 30% more performance than DLSS + FG he was getting 120-144fps (has a 4090 too) with all maxed out

I haven't tried the HD texture pack yet as I worry it will nuke performance. I will try it eventually but for now I don't know
DO NOT BOTHER. I don't care if you're running 720p with a 5090 that ♥♥♥♥ will crap all over your system
7900xt 7800x3d.

Tested at the the little oasis with nothing going on (basically start area).

On 4K I need to reduce graphics to medium (or it was high) just to get 80fps. Why 80 fps?, because it makes a very noticeable difference in smoothness over 60fps. 4K Max setting was barely holding a solid 60fps.

1440p was not looking that good on the 4K screen for barely any FPS increase.

There is just really something odd going on with the graphic settings. I gotta play with this more later. It is as if there is barely a difference between low and high.

It really seems poorly optimized, but is smooth. It is almost as if Nvdia paid them to get people to use Frame Generation. Paid them?, sorry, clearly they would bully. Fake frames was making my eyes hurt just as much as 60fps or worse. I'm really used to 120fps or higher now.

AMD wins again... with a victory count of 2.
i9 13900/4090 here - ultra settings with the dlc highest res textures and ray tracing at high. Playing in 1440p. With frame gen enabled I hang around 140 fps most of the time (capped at 143). Looks and feels great, although I understand others are having problems and I don't want to discount that.
It should be completely playable for you, I have a worse PC and it's playable, but there's users reporting bugs, crashes in main menu and other constant crashes regardless of hardware. Only way to figure it out is to buy it and refund in less than 2 hours if you encounter some issues.
Runs perfectly fine for me, 12700KF & 7900XT @ 1440p native
I have an aging system, but with Gsync and a well-cooled upper mid range CPU, performance has been fine at high settings.

The performance issues are going to be from midrange AMD CPUs which are overheating. If World was any indication, the game is CPU-intensive, and a ton of builds neglect cooling.

Your specs look like they should be fine, but you're getting terrible frame rates, the game feels choppy and laggy, and you frequently crash. The CPU is throttling.

Check your temperature. If you're spending too much time >~80C, get a can of air, blow out your case, and add case fans. If it's still happening, get an all-in-one liquid cooler, mount the coolant block on the intake, clean off your CPU really well, and add a high-conductance thermal paste instead of the crap that came with it (liquid metal is for overclock hobbyists only -- it's fussy, a little risky, and well past the point of diminishing returns -- just get a high performance regular paste).

A high performance CPU is only high performance if it's cold. Games like this one make CPUs hot and keep them hot and a powerful cooling solution can help a TON. On three separate occasions over my last several builds I've made cooling changes or repairs which made unplayable games smooth. I strongly suspect the difference between good cooling and bad cooling makes a bigger difference than a CPU tier upgrade within a generation.
At Mostly Max settings with shadows turned down a notch (No Raytracing) and using DLSS Quality at 4K im at about 55-60 fps. Running a 3090Ti and 14900k.
4090 + 13900ks
runs like ♥♥♥♥ compared to the graphics
