Why is bow damage so low?

I noticed in other Monster Hunter games as well, that the bow seems to have the lowest damage output. I personally find it the most alluring weapon and always want to use it, but it sucks. Am I doing something wrong or does the bow just ♥♥♥♥?

Bow is incredibly easy to kill everything with. You don't even need to build damage with it. A little Constitution and you win the game - done. This coming from a Bow user.

I'm a bow main and in my opinion it's the best it's ever been. Positioning and keeping a steady combo is key.

It is a weapon with no downside and constant damage uptime. Perfect dodge available at all times doesnt make it more interesting. But the biggest cultprit to bow being an easy to the point of boring weapon is the wound stagger - it is simply way too easy to stagger a monster charging at you so the only downside of the bow (being forced to relocate and avoid close combat) is basically neutered to nothing.

Your distance from the target matters.
Your ability to maintain stamina matters (Learn to perfect dodge.)
Your ability to keep your tracker arrow on key weakpoints matters.

Doing all of the things above, results in a fast damaging experience. Normal shot+power shot+spread shot does more damage in a short time frame than any weapon in the game. Will you out damage a great sword's wound attack in those shots? No, but you will be able to be precise in your hits, unlike other weapons that flail and hope to hit something vital.

Seeing as they ruined the heavy bowgun by removing wyvernsnipe, the bow is now the nearest equivalent with infinite wyvernsnipe (dragon piercer).

A heavy bow gun with ignition recovery 3 and piercing shot gets its wyvern heart back in like 22-24 seconds. A wyvern heart without Ingition 2 is going to do around 1300 damage to a weakpoint (Depending on your crit damage and or your affinity.) An ignition 2 however does 1800+ damage to the weakpoint with a recovery time of 33 seconds (You can lower this to 27 seconds with focus 3.) So I don't see how HBG got ruined in the slightest.

I miss my wyvern snipe like everyone else, but it didn't ruin HBG by doing what they did. Snipe will likely return in the future anyways. The pierce is actually fantastic, but only on big monsters like Uth duna etc.

Bow has the fastest clear times in Wilds, and is often one of the most powerful weapons in the series in general.

Bow is literally the BEST weapon in Wilds atm. To be good you need to master distance so you're doing full damage as well as paying attention to your Coatings. Wound breaking does SOOO much damage and this thing can create SOOO many wounds on a monster BY ITSELF. If you think the bow's damage is low, you're not using it correctly.
