Switched from HDD to SSD, and controller not detected FIXED
Just as the title says, I uninstalled the game from my HDD and installed it on my SSD like the game suggests, but after I did this the game won't detect my controller. But it was detected when it was installed on my HDD.

Edit: Ok so the button layout wasn't set to official Capcom for some reason, so I changed it back to that and now its working

Same problem here, i uninstalled from HDD to SSD and now the controller wont work anymore, i tried disabling steam input, starting the game in admin mode, restarted the game at least 6 times, nothing worked.

Same here, tried all the tweaks suggested by various forums (turn steam input on / off, check integrity, force random configuraiton in controller menu, lanch the game without my controller being plugged in...) but nothing changes.

A shame really...

Same here go spam the support it's the only thing we can do unfortunately
Had some issues with my Xbox one controller after reinstalling on ssd . I went to steam settings, clicked controller and then downloaded the Xbox extended feature support driver and for whatever reason it’s working again. Dunno if it’ll help but figured I would post.

Enable steam input than restart your computer. That's how I fixed this

So I think it's because steam sets the controller profile to something the game can't recognize. I personally be able to get it working consistently after doing the following no promises it will work for you.

-restarting steam completely by restarting your computer or closing it in your windows tray which is on the bottom right should be a up arrow click it should see the steam icon right click it and click exit steam. (This is very important you do either)

-Launch steam again

-on the steam client click steam then settings then controller make sure enable steam input for Xbox controller is on, PlayStation controller support is enabled, steam controller input for generic controllers and also switch pro controller are all enabled or checked on then close. (This maybe already done)

-on the steam click library find wilds right click it click properties look for controller then you should see override for monster hunter wilds for me it was originally enable steam input but I put it on the use default setting one (not sure if this is needed but it is something I did)

-launch the game press shift tab to bring up steam overlay there should be at the bottom an icon that look like a controller click it. Below current button layout there should be a grey long rectangle if it shows official layout for monster hunter wilds you are good it should hopefully work however when I had issues it was blank if this happens click it on recommend you should see the official layout with the controller you are using. If you have and issues with the input not being right click the official layout again personally had the L1 not registering as it and instead behaving like one of the dpad buttons this fixed it for me.
