Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

Statistiche:
The concept of the "alpha" is cringe
It exists in chickens (It's were the phrase pecking order came from) naturally but for most animals, it does not exist.

Dave Mech who first wrote about an "alpha" only witnessed it in captivity in unnatural conditions and would spend the rest of his life trying to undo the mistake he made.

Only thing alpha in this game is Olivia and Arthur.
ya outside captivity the "alpha wolf." isn't real it's literally just ma and pa. although it is a fictional universe so i see no problem with them using a fictitious out of date concept.
Mostt monsters in the game dont have alphas, so whats your point?
You're a beta we get it
What a weird thing to be upset about. They were in Rise, so they exist in the Monster Hunter universe. Dave Mech doesn't live there.
The other option to make the strength differentiation between "pack monsters" would be calling it a prime. 🤷🏻‍♂️ If you were to call it something, what would you call it then? Or would you just not have them at all?

That's fair, it IS a good short hand for "biggest critter".
The only real issue is that is keeps presenting the idea that "alpha" exists to people who don't know better and then try to apply it to real life.

I mean I guess it ends at people are the reason why people can't have nice things.
alphas do exist in the real world wild though? males compete for females and through various features exhibit their "alpha" genes/physique

examples? lions, gorillas, deers, wolves and chimpanzees

That the whole village raid thing is because of an "alpha" making monsters not afraid of humans is silly.
But a flying monster that turns its face into a rail-gun and shoots lightning is so realistic?
You gave an example where it exists in the real world, so why is it such an issue for you when it is applied to FICTIONAL creatures?
You mean lobster doesn't have hierarchies ?

Prime would work, it gets the point across without devolving to a debunked misconception.

No, this was disproven by the guy who proposed the theory.

because people today want games to be as close to 1:1 with the real world that if something doesn't add up right its a problem with them
