possible AMD workaround to crashes ? has worked for me so far
So yesterday was a bit of a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ with the amount of crashes and GPU (driver) crashes i had. Im using a 5800X3D and Radeon 6800XT combination. It seems a lot of AMD users are experiencing frequent crashes.

a comment somewhere indicated that the game, even with AMD's latest 25.2.1 beta drivers for MH Wilds the boostclock limit is somehow ignored to the point where it peaks higher then it should. In my case I have an Asus TUF OC version, that out of the box according to Adrenalin sits at 2407 Mhz boostclock. While trying to play the game, i loaded up afterburner to see what the actual boostclock was reporting. I saw it shoot up near and sometimes over 2500mhz.

in adrenalin you can set your OC per game, so for MHWilds i set my boostclock to 2300 (95%) ingame it now actually peaks at around 2250-2260. Yes this is a hit to performance. but after 4 hours of play with story, several online hunts i havent had it crash on me yet. and id rather play with 50-60 FPS then not be able to play at all.

Granted all this is after a fresh MHWilds install, and with not downloading the high res texture pack.

maybe it could help you as a temporary sollution until the game updates or AMD releases an updated driver to at least correct this behaviour.

Yep, can confirm this changed my experience with the game in Windows. Added it to my fixes thread here if you're interested in the DirectStorage swap too.

How do you make a custom profile for one game? I want to try it and while i was looking to do it i saw my smart stuff is not anymore active and it say unsupported feature.

(didn't check before installing the optional driver for the game if it was active, but always have been)
Under Performance, Tuning, you can add a Game Profile. For MHWilds for me clicking the global tuning dropdown on the left shows Wilds as an option. Just select wilds and you can do tuning. This tuning then applies when Adrenalin detects you are running Wilds

Hmm i have a 7900 xtx and the max frequency at 100% is 2935, should i go to 95% like you? ( never done that stuff ever)
you downloaded High resolution, Without the enough gpu an telling you have problem ?

High res ask for 7900xt and XTX and soon 9070XT and 9070.....

crash are normal it's asking for more than 16gb vram, 16 is not enough, 20,24gb only

or wait maybe for fsr4 on older gpu.

9070XT and 9070 are both 16GB so by your logic they arent enough. When the game says you use 6GB and gives you 10GB headroom, ofcourse im going to try High Res pack. a 16GB card should be more then enough to handle high res textures.

Your trick seems to work, i have yet to crash, now i leave the game open while i go cooking and see if it crashed at my return.

Thanks for your help, i've put the bar at 90% .

You are on your own the moment you use mods. You have been warned to read the instructions when using mods.
