Is fishing broken for anyone else?

im trying to fish in the camp in scarlet forest and i just keep automatically retracting the line before i even get to try to catch something every single time, there were some times where i could get it to stay but trying to move it at all usually retracts the line automatically again, if this is just a me problem what is causing it? im using an xbox series x controller connected via usb c to pc

Likewise. And it can catch multiple critters at once, unlike the rod.

@OP: Just barely tapping the analog stick will "jig" the line and try to get a fish's attention. Is your character entirely pulling the hook out of the water from any input?

This happened to me even though I was aiming at water and not ground or rocks or anything. I had to aim in a slightly different part of the water and was able to fish as normal.

no input at all is required i think i could let go of all the buttons as soon as i cast the line and it still retracts the hook it immediately after

Ya might have a slightly sticky trigger, then. Or you're just casting into water that's too shallow for fishing.
