Most Optimal Steam Deck settings to play Wilds
Firstly you want to go into the properties and change the resolution to 640x480
Run the game in Experimental
then if this is your first time booting up, go into the graphics settings and disable blurring.

from here you should get 20-30 FPS

however the game is blocky as hell and you can barely see what you're doing.

so, my approach to fix that is going into the upscaling settings and changing it from performance to quality.

with this the frames will be around 15-26

But i've had no issues playing with this setting other than UI glitches on quest start and finish.

the world mini-map is difficult to read.

apart from that, gamplay feels fine, some may disagree but that's their opinion.
kinda reminds me of the 3DS days where FPS would pap itself sometimes so there's a little bit of nostalgia there :D

EDIT:

I've been running the game lately in the Default resolution with framegen enabled and upscaling set to quality/balance with MHz manually set to 1600 in the steam decks settings

Also to fix the UI issue there's a mod on nexus that fixes that called something along the lines of : the little machine that shouldn't. There's a bit of setup with the file and a launch command which is all mentioned in the mod itself but it's definitely worth the effort to do, with this new setuo you'll get 20-40FPS although the cost is a little slowdown in busy scenes, again fully playable but not perfect.

Edit#2 post TU1:

The update changed the version of Direct Storage to the more up-to-date one, unfortunately this version does not play well with Linux and thus the Steam Deck.

You can download the old version from nexus, and elsewhere.

I'll update this post with more details when I get home.

I think i will just stream it from my pc at max settings. But thanks for the inside how it's performing.
What about the messed up hud textures? Is there any way to fix that?

The Steam Deck is really not made for these sorts of games. It's great for emulating older consoles and playing indie games, but not this.

You can run with the native resolution and get similar frames lol. I run on Lowest Setting, Ultra Performance, and get 20-25 frames in most areas. Proton Experimental is mandatory though
Bro stop coping the steam deck is NOT it for this game

Absolutely correct. But here's the thing. It runs, and I am able to play on my couch while watching TV with my wife. Or while laying in bed. Or while sitting in the car on my lunch break. Sooooo, I'll enjoy being able to play Wilds portably while you're stuck to a PC/Console.
Steam Deck definitely a bad way to play this unoptimized garbo, but that hasn't, somehow, stopped it from being one of the current Steam Deck most played games.

Not exactly true. It can play newer games just fine, the devs just need to optimize it. Granted, it's not exactly powerful, but for being only the first gen from Steam, it can and does get the job done when devs care.

I play stuff like Kingdom Hearts, Skyrim, Divinity Original sin II, Baulders gate 3 just fine. it doesn't look amazing, but it plays all of it.

The two words that anyone on linux cares about. 'It runs'. From there, it's just a matter of squeezing out the most from it. It'll probably run way better once the DRM is removed a month or two from now.
Steam link best way to play mhwilds (60fps, middle performance, 60fps lock, fsr on (pc).
Vulkan is not a thing in Wilds?
