FPS Issue : 40 FPS no matter the resolution
Hello, I have a rtx 3080 and a i5 11600k (not overclocked).

The weird thing is that I keep having only 30-40 FPS at all time:
- at 3440*1440
-2440*1440
-and even at 1080p.

Is there a way to search what causes this ?
Is the i5 11600K bottleneck the explanation ?

Thank you, I don't understand WHY this works, chosing "quality" over "performance" and using AMD FSR 3.
I thought I knew a little about PC but I realize I don't know ♥♥♥♥ :MHRISE_Felyne:

With those setting I have constant 60 FPS.

30 series Nvidia GPUs cannot natively use framegen.
FSR works on Nvidia GPUs. Nvidia users can thus use FSR upscaling and/or FSR framegen.

When you enabled FSR in the game you gained access to FSR upscaling and framegen.

Framegen was likely enabled by default when you enabled FSR.

FSR quality will look better than FSR performance so I would recommend you use the quality setting unless you really need more frames.

Your actual framerate is 30-40 FPS but FG is generating frames up to 60FPS and beyond. Game will still feel like 30-40 FPS.

30-40 FPS is low for a 3080 in this game...or should be IMO. FSR + FG is getting your more frames but I think you are ultimately CPU bottle-necked or your in game settings are too aggressive on visuals.

maybe slow RAM?
yes the game/engine is heavy on the CPU

same texture issue on more powerfful graphic cards, the games just sucks at running the settings they recommended. Wait for a patch in like a month

I wonder, I have 64G DDR 4 at 1600 MHz.

I was surprised that theres no differences between different resolutions.

Yes, very heavy, I use frame generation with "Lossless Scaling" to counter that problem, I have a 3080ti/7700k, I can get more than 120fps.

The best thing you can do is lower Render Distance in ANY CPU heavy game. Set it to low and you should see a bit of an increase.

I have a 5800x3D and a 4090.

Also, Frame Gen does not fix anything. Especially if you are not already getting 60(DLSS and FSR actually help here). It's going to feel like 45 regardless of what your FPS says.

If you can't hit 60(With DLSS or FSR) your are actually better off locking the game to 30 or 40(if you have a 120 hz VRR display). The game will actually "feel" better even if it doesn't look as smooth.

P.S. The game is really poorly optimized. Look at my Build. I cannot run this game with Raytracing enabled and get above 60 fps.

Compare your results with others.

There are a lot of posted benchmark results in this thread.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/2246340/discussions/0/720115720988405351/

The benchmark will have higher FPS average than the final game so keep that in mind. My first guess would be that your are CPU bottle-necked.

----------------------

I suggest using AMD FSR to get FG in this game if you want FG with 0 effort. There is also a FSR mod which will allow you to use DLLS4 which is a little more work.
Use FSR3 in Quality until a patch fix the performance.

What's weird is that Ray Tracing doesn't impact my performance, I guess it's because of the CPU like everyone says ?

It's frustrating but LS actually gives me heavy input lag, far more than the in-game FG. Any fix for this?

Can you try adding the game executable and its folder into windows defender exclusions ?
Also can you check how and when you are bottlenecking ? is your cpu constantly at 100% ? Is your gpu ?

Ray tracing is just very light in this game. Basically for RT reflections on water bodies in the game the impact will be 0 most of the time.

this is my performance n 4070ti, am capped at 60 fps, you can see I have a lot of overhead still, in 1440p. No framegen. DLSS is on "Quality".

there's obviously something wrong with your setup. ><
I have performance overlay on to show.

You could setup Presentmon to check if your GPU is waiting on your CPU.

https://github.com/GameTechDev/PresentMon/releases

You need to use the gpu wait metric.
