Video game industry finally learned to monetize poor optimization
Why add extra work to ensure that your game is enjoyed by a wider audience when instead you can apply peer pressure by making their competent hardware feel out of date sooner than later?

That way you can sell both your software, and the hardware companies praise you for making them relevant.

Also they have people defending them saying that it's our fault and not theirs that the game runs badly, so I guess in their eyes this tactic is working and will continue doing it. Hell, Dragon's Dogma 2 and the Silent Hill remake are proof of how little Capcom cares about optimizing their games.

"Game doesn't hit 60fps on your 4090? Sorry kiddo, no potatoes allowed. Shoulda bought a 5090 for 6000€ from a scalper at launch!"
And the mindless cattle is buying and defending it....

Again, this all was in the cards when people praised Skyrim in 2011 on release and it was also a broken mess.

When they praised Cyberpunk and the reviewers lied about performance and it was a broken mess.

Speaking about lying about performance, how many outlets addressed just how bad the game runs? I think it's safe for me to assume next to none.

And people still visit them and gobble up their articles and opinions like it matters.

Consumers gotta consume, even if it's low quality.

Oh and can't forget the people going "but if I don't support there won't be another Mon Hun game" and literally rating the game much higher than they know they would had it been a game with a different name.

Ha... Can't make it up. Gamers really like to harm themselves and especially do it when there's any hint of tribalism...
