I really want to play another weapon but I can't...
With each new monster hunter I tell myself exactly the same thing and each time it ends the same way... and it makes me crazy and frustrated.

“Come on, this time it’s the right one, I’m really going to change weapons.”

10 minutes trying other weapons I'm bored too complex or too concentrated in a single damage category despite some weapons that look really cool

And.... i go back to SnS

I don't know how to explain it, I find this weapon so incredible and "simple" I mean there's no need to manage something or follow a combo and other no

I want to cut I can with the sword

I want to break I can with the shield

this crazy weapon can do anything it can handle any situation

the monster has armor? well it's time to BONK

the monster has a part that is too dangerous and must be cut out? it's slash time

I'm low hp? no need to holster my weapon I can drink and continue to hit like a wreck

well there is this really enjoyable side when we stun the monster of several tons which charges us with a very small shield I find it even more enjoyable than the video of the guy with his hammer who stuns a tigrex has the perfect frame practically in the mouth of the monster on Monster Hunter World

and yet in my heart I have 3 weapons that I would really like to play but I just find them boring to manage, I have to do micromanaging instead of simply enjoying the combat

the IG, the HH and the CB

but I give up after a few minutes because I spend more of my time trying to understand how this ♥♥♥♥ works rather than just playing purely instinctively like with the SnS

Are there other players in the same delirium as me who really can't play anything other than a single weapon?

That tutorial lady at the beginning is like
"I'm gonna ask you some questions to see what kinda weapon you might like! :) "
and i'm like
"No. No thank you. Can you just... can you move.. gimme that lance. Yea, that one that looks like a big gun. Thanks." :praisesun:

I mostly stick with either gunlance or heavy bowgun, really just depends on the type of critter i'm going after.
I'm a simple man, I just like making the monsters go boom.
Is SnS such a good weapon?
I went to extreme lengths to learn and master them all (that existed at that point anyway) back in G2 and with each successive game in recent years they gradually change the controls or combo's so as to see me kill myself in amusing ways when what I expect will happen doesn't.

The change to Lance killed me the most, time was you could move block and stab safely, then one of the attacks became a drop shield and lunge forward. ugh.

The Greatsword has more or less remained tried and true with minimal meddling so I always start there and then try SnS to see what they've done to it this time.

Not sure what to tell you. If you wanna try IG, HH and CB but don't want to micromanage, then why do you want to play one of the few weapons that require micromanaging? Try something else.

The hammer is very simple, straightforward and extremely satisfying to play. You just bonk heads and many times keep them stunlocked yelling for their mother to come and help, and if she comes, she gets a bonk as well.

Switch Axe is fun to play, very versatile but not too complicated.

Bow is crazy strong, no need to heal because you'll never get hit in the <10 minutes it takes you to shred any monster.

Charge Blade can be played without all the micromanaging if that's what you prefer.

And well, I get your point with the HH, it's not easy to know when to buff what and where. It's very complex and in-depth. Like I said, Hammer is the simpler version of it.

In MHWorld, I had hundreds of hunts with only CB until I started branching out the first time, so, no need to rush and be hellbent on finding more weapons to main. Play what you like.

Same tbh. Been using Gunlances since the day they were introduced and really disliked Tri at first because it lacked them.

Every new game I tell myself THIS is the one I do something different. Nope. Straight back to Gunlance.

It's noob friendly but requires mastery to get the most out of it. TLDR: easy to start harder than some other weapons to master.

Let’s talk about the gunlance ! I had a friend who was completely crazy about this weapon.

and it annoys me that I never understood how he could like this weapon

we have the mobility of a wheelchair with square wheels with this weapon and only sometimes a big boom

like the HBG for example if the weapon was visually bigger like for example the Hellsing ARMS Anti-Midian Cannon Hallconnen or Hallconnen II of Seras Victoria in Hellsing I would say why not a huge cannon which goes boom boom with shells weighing several ten kilos, it's very exciting

I haven't used it in a few generations but it used to be the king of getting status effects on Monsters, could use items from behind the shield without needing to put your weapon away and was pretty simple to master.

Was never my kind of play style but it always felt super basic to me. But that's exactly why some people like it.

To be fair, they did an amzing job at it in this itteration. If you like big booms, the sound and feel of it, it peak now. You get actual oomph out your booms, if that's even a sentence...
Plus, let's be honest a shield and a long stick to poke makes more sense than most weapons to use against building size animals. Helps with immersion I guess.

I can give you the answer to that in real simple terms: Big pointy sticks are great. Big pointy sticks that go boom are better.

Also about mobility, don't fall into the trap of thinking a Gunlance has poor mobility. A good gunlance user is exceptionally mobile and knows exactly when to put the weapon away and how to chain attack-dash-step combos to stay very mobile. Sure it's no Dagger build, but it's not as slow as it first appears.

But even then, I'd happily turn into a completely stationary turret to keep using my boom stick :D
