Performance Guide [How to squeeze every drop outta the game]
Heyoooo,

It's no secret Monster Hunter Wilds launched in an utterly terrible state, so we'll skip the whinging part and go straight to what I did to get FAR better performance for me and my friends and family. It's not going to get rid of the damn pop-ins or texture issues, but at least it won't be dog-arse performance...too much.

PLEASE NOTE: I have not tested this on AMD GPUs, as we all have RTX 40xx series cards. Feel free to try I guess, but I can't make any promises.

Step 1: Turn yo game off.

Step 2: Clean install the latest GPU. Clean install you say? YES. Crucial. Use DDU to do this, and it MUST be performed through Safe Mode to do it right. Please do not skip this step.

Step 3: Once you are back in normal Windows mode, type in "disk cleanup" with no quotations and select your OS disc. It should be, by default, "C:". In here, find the Direct X Shader Cache and nuke that ♥♥♥♥ and reboot.

Step 4: Download DLSS Swapper[github.com] + NVIDIA Profile Inspector[github.com] (you can try NVIDIA app but we couldn't get its changes to actually stick). Why both? Because without Swapper, for some reason, Inspector's change to latest DLSS would not stick. Feel free to try one at a time.

Step 5: Open DLSS Swapper, find Monster Hunter Wilds, and in the DLSS option swap to top one, it should be "310.1.2". Next, in the Frame Generation, pick the very top one.

Step 6: Open NVIDIA Profile Inspector and type in Monster Hunter Wilds (or create a profile). Scroll down to section 5, called COMMON. In here, find these options and enable/change as listed:

DLSS - Enable DLL Override > set to ON
DLSS - Forced Preset Letter > Select Preset K
DLSS-FG - Enable DLL Override > Set to ON
DLSS-FG - Forced Preset Letter > Select "Always use Latest"

Step 7a: Hit "Apple Changes" at the top right of the Inspector. Close app.

Step 7b: (May be required for Win10 users) > Go into the Steam directory, find Steam.exe, right click, properties and make sure ALL compatibility options are disabled.

Step 8: Launch game and test.

Using this method, I got myself, my family and a few friends to go from 20, 30 and 40 fps to an almost constant 60-80 range, with some drops to 40s in intense areas.

I hope this helps something out there having issues. If it can help even a few people, that'd be great.

Enjoy and hopefully they will patch this game quickly.

Additionally, I found that deleting the shade cache within the install path of the game, caused the game to rebuild shaders significantly better.

Try that as well!

Dropping into the 40s with FG? Yikes.

Yes. :/

It's really, really bad. I suspect that there is something going on in the background beyond the anti-theft ♥♥♥♥. Some sort of memory leak or streaming issue with textures.

It's quite literally unplayable without FG and DLSS. It's embarrassingly bad.
More tweaks!

Open the config.ini and fix the hilarious misspelling of "resolution" to improve performance.

You will find: MinimumStreamingTextureResolution=MinimumStreamingTextureResoltuion_256

Replace that with this:
MinimumStreamingTextureResolution=MinimumStreamingTextureResolution_256

Also, update the DirectStorage, because just like with DLSS and frame generation, they shipped the game with outdated ♥♥♥♥.

It VASTLY improved my performance and made things stutter FAR less. Visual issues still occur, like textures popping in and out.
