Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

Use FSR instead of DLSS
13700k
rtx 4070 super
32gb ddr5
Playing on 4k

I was going crazy trying to fix the stutters and the bad frame times using DLSS Performance + Frame Gen, Getting a very stuttery ~72 fps on village.
After testing with FSR Performance + Frame Gen, I'm getting ~90 smooth fps, little to no stutters.
Same graphics settings on both.

Anyone else tested this?

Same. Nvidia don't give 3080 Ti a frame gen. Thanks God we have AMD.

I’ll agree with this. But definitely don’t want to downplay people’s overly optimistic expectations with newly released games with older hardware though. Expectations vs reality and all that.
If the issue was old hardware, we wouldn't see games like Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Dragon Age Veilguard having great performance on the same old hardware. The issue with Monster Hunter Wilds (and Dragons Dogma 2, for all that matters) is NOT hardware related, its bad use of resources and optimization. The game visuals are nothing crazy to justify the performance it delivers. It barely looks better than MH World, and yet you need an obscene pc to have an okay performance

With all due respect, this is just too much of a simplistic thought process from a technological perspective.

Please don’t take that as a slight however, as it wasn’t meant as one. I’ve just seen where these conversations lead over the many years and don’t wish to put that much brain matter into it.

Nonetheless, I sincerely hope it all works out for you, and all, in the end. Best of luck!
Im using an AMD 5700X3D and 3070ti and i switched from dlss to fsr and the difference is massive. always above 60 fps with no stutters or any other problems.

I 100% stand behind this. ^^
It's also not worth explaining because "this youtuber says it's bad".

Please, elaborate more on how "dump more money into pc for brute forcing performance" is not facile thinking.

edit: This is like pouring more water to solve a leak. You won't notice the issue since the "water" level is rising, but it doesn't solve the issue and you could be having way better performance out of your system.

Just try for my 3060ti, was about 40-50ish now 80fps and can use Frame Generation
dlss is better in image quality and image stability but for rtx cards without fg support, you gotta mod to use fg with dlss. you can use a workaround to make it with fsr's fg with dlss or use lossless scaling.

altho with lossless scaling, you can not record the game with shadowplay or obs as it will capture the video output without fake frames :(

Usually yes, but there must be something awfully wrong in this release. Dlss worked fine on the benchmark, so maybe denuvo is messing it up? Most people here seem to be having 20-30 fps increase when switching to fsr. Thats not normal. At this performance increase, I really don't mind if dlss has a more stable image, I rather have a more stable performance.

I also have a 4070 Super, but how do you manage the crashes?
My fix was closing "Medal" it was a recording software.
Same here, fsr is better than transformer, because of no ghosting in low light scenarios with more stable frame generation time as well

I have a 9800X3D and 4090 combo and have also noticed that FSR runs smoother. I get more stutters and frame drops when using DLSS but FSR is butter smooth. I have a frame time graph up when I play and DLSS is all over the place whereas FSR is fairly steady. I do think DLSS looks better visually but I can overlook the weird anomalies that FSR produces in exchange for better performance.

on an m2 ssd

This is true for me too. I found it out last night while futzing around the settings because I was so annoyed with the stutters. Switched over to FSR3 + Frame Gen– BOOM. No stutters, up by ~20fps

I'm using fsr instead of dlss, mainly because you can actually sharpen the picture with fsr, without it looking like a blurry mess.

I do get an annoying vertical like to the right of my screen with amd FG enabled, but that's something i can live with
