Fatal D3D Error (4, E_ACCESSDENIED, 0x80070005)
When I launch MH Wilds, it instantly crashes saying that the game crashed unexpectedly and when I look at the crash report, it has the error above at the bottom.

Has anyone encountered this error before and got any advice on how to fix this??

I've tried reinstalling, copying the config from the beta and pasting it in the game's location, running it as admin (and steam as admin), running n compatibility mode (All options).

I just find it so strange that I was able to play the Beta just fine with no issues and then when the Benchmark/ Live game was released, Im not able to play it.

If you need to know, my specs are:
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X
RTX 4070TI Super 16GB (with latest drivers)
64GB RAM
Win11 64bit (As up to date as possible)

I've been looking into this since Beta 1, I have commented it many times around: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2246340/discussions/0/597391905481832161/?tscn=1740752212

If you want some general advice:
- use memtest_vulkan script to check if your VRAM is ok. If it reports any error, you might have VRAM corruption and this is being caused by hardware failure.
- Try running MHWilds under Windows 8 compatibility mode, some people have had luck with that.
- Remove any overclock on your system, RE Engine since Dragon's Dogma 2 doesn't allows ANY overclock.

Hi Minmay,

Thanks for the advice, I've done a memtest and the results are below

I dont have any overclocking on my PC, it's just as-is when I built it.

As I've said before, I've tried using all compatibility options and none seem to have had any affect, just delayed the game opening and crashing at the same point.

I think this is a different type of fatal error to the one you've had as it's not 'device removed' but 'access denied'

Thank you for your advice though, I really appreciate it 😊

Im looking for any advice as well because im running into the same problem. Nothing happening, just boots and crashes and I cant figure out why

I fixed the issue. Turns out I just needed to disable the Steam Overlay and boom, it started up.
