Fishing
This is gonna make my rip my eyes out. Who the hell designed the fishing and why is it so atrociously broken?

How do you screw up the implementation so bad that it's impossible to complete?

I've been here for 40 ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ minutes because it just DOES NOT WORK.

you dont even need to rotate, you just wiggle it up and down per the instructions the game provide you. I'm not sure how people are having issues with fishing.

I'm not sure if mouse and keyboard just actually is bugged, or most of the people in this thread can't read the controls displayed on screen. I use a controller, fishing works fine. Yes, sometimes fish run away, this is normal. If that's the end of the world for you, I don't think you should play video games.

now that ive done it more: still dumb, and the UI sucks ass (W<-->S is a nothing UI feature)
but also it states S as a tug, as in to tease the fishes attraction, which is ironically the wrong choice for the fishing pool it provides an example, so def a case of just badly designed explanations on top of badly designed fishing mechanics.

If you're using controller, rotate the left stick in circles. It'll draw the attention of the fish. The game doesn't explain it very good.
Easy fix for everyone is to use the capture net. If a fish is far I aim high for an arch and distance.

the side quest requires actually using the rod otherwise it'd be far less of an issue lol
Problem is some of the weapon and armor requires the material from some fish and they are freaking rare like Speartuna and Kajau... can you imagine Kajau... it used to be small monsters in world where you literally run up to chop it up to carve material. Speartuna I think only saw it once during a storm in Scarlet forest... and it would not bite the bait.

This mechanic is genuinely broken and whoever was in charge of implementing this should be fired. This is atrocious.

I just fished up golden, platinum, sushi, arrow, bowfins etc. It's not broken, you're just not doing it correctly.

You cast the line.
You flick the stick up and then down, do it in rotation and you'll hear a reeling sound. Alternatively, you can rotate your stick and when you do the fish will be drawn to the lure. Depending on the fish, it will bite. The starter lure='s less chance, but you should start with an emerald lure, hold LB and swap to it when the rod is out. Sushi fish bite immediately on it.
Yes, it's broken. Maybe you don't think so because you're using a controller, but on keyboard you have to tap w and s at different speeds to slow or fast reel. However, s is also the button to jig, so if you mess up even a few milliseconds in your timing, instead of reeling slowly it does a jig which is the exact opposite of what you want.

This is a fundamentally stupid design. It could be one key for quick, a different key for slow and a different key for jig.
