That's low rank for you. Look at the reviews carefully before buying next time.

welcome to mainstream monster hunter.

Where they try to grab all the casuals who never played before and entice them in with quirky characters, "story" and more nonsense.
Totally agree
I don't remember it being this bad in Worlds. There you would have your forced singleplayer story section, followed by a number of hunts you had to complete before another forced singleplayer story section. Here the assignments are just that over and over again.

Surely it must slow down at some point, I just wonder if it won't be until high rank.

Monster Hunter's main team says no. Buy Rise instead lol
What do you mean? You’re telling me you don’t want B-movie plotlines spanning the entirety of your monster slaying action game?

that kid is so annoying.
The on the rails sections are infuriating, also Alma and Nata are so damn hateable, literal children that shouldn't step outside the safety of the camp. The forced sanitized disney inclusive writing lacks soul, MH story has pretty much always sucked, but this is a new low. Just stop strapping me into a chair like robot chicken and forcing me to look at ♥♥♥♥ I could have done myself, and let me play the game.

I used to think I wanted more focus on a story in Monster Hunter. I could never have guessed how wrong I was.

i just want to fight big monster but i don't have a licence to hunt this monster has gotta be the dumbest thing yet

It's not so much the story that's the problem it's how it's told and the forced on rail BS. It's a big open world and you're actively told not to engage with it. Forced to walk the path it wants

it wasn't this bad. cutscenes weren't that long. And there wasn't that much BS
