You people sure do love moving the goalposts every few years
Been playing since MHFU, never whined about a new entry as much as you people like to do. More games = good
I just absolutely hate how a dumbed-down live service full of micro-transactions that we used to get as part of the game, or in free updates, became the standard.
Nintendo did a lot of good for the series when they had it on their platforms.
As unlike Sony, they actually advertised it. There where a LOT of new players on the Wii, WiiU & 3DS. The social media platform they had on the 3DS & WiiU was full of new players & the amazingly friendly community helping people out. It was lovely before World, where the community changed from welcoming, to the basic Dark Souls kind of community where everyone is trying to be as leet as possible.
The difference is. The COMMUNITY was helping new people. Now the game itself suffers in a desperate attempt to be more approachable to the lowest common denominator.
Resulting in a worse experience for all.
I don't just want "more". Like a pig hungry for more slop. I want the quality that used to be synonymous with the series.
cool story bro, see you again when the next game comes out and the same thing is said again for the 10th time
Take MH 1 / MHG / MHF for example, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ high rank is easier than their low rank.
Also they are trying to make a story, and basically all game stories involve hand holding. Took me 12 hours to get though low rank.
You cant walk without the NPC and game forcing your character to get back on the tracks. It even punishes you by making you RP walk slowly to the objective. Its super obnoxious.
"rise is just an easier world"
"world is just a very easy casual friendly version of the previous game" and so on. Loud minority of people who just want to complain about new thing, yet you know they too will end up spending hundreds of hours on the game then do the same exact type of complaint when the next game comes out. The newer games are easier to you since a lot of monster hunter really just is knowledge checks and knowing weapon movesets and timings.
Nintendo ran the franchise into the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ground.
A setting where humanity has been driven to almost extinction, knocked back to the bronze age and struggling to survive Nintendo - lets have a troop of children ride the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ things around like pets.......
Then when we got 3U, you started out with more equipment, getting upgrades was easier & you got a base I think 50 points if natural defence naked.
That made the same fights in 3U considerably easier than they where in Tri.
I don't think most people actually consider what goes into difficulty.
It's far more than just Low Rank being the easy part.
What made World so easy was the simplified systems, smoother controls, ability to adjust attack direction during an attack or charge & the absolutely broken armour skill changes.
This resulted in the typical Live Service arms race between the players & devs.
Resulting in the monsters getting stupidly tougher & stronger to the point you where required to use the "builds" & "metas" that the series had never had before.
In Wilds. You start off with Devine Blessing right from the start if you choose the bew starter armour, which the game doesn't tell you, & the AI really doesn't want to attack you. You also get a pretty powerful talisman right at the start.
Not to mention the SOS system it tries to push on you.
I ended up removing my armour as Devine Blessing is ridiculous to start with. Never used the SOS system or that talisman.
I observe every new series monster I come across to see what skeleton it uses. Doing so allowed me to notice how little they actually want to attack you. The AI almost seems scared of you.
Many systems go into difficulty.
Dark Souls 1 for example becomes very easy the more you know about it that you can exploit.
Sekiro however is considerably harder as there really aren't any tools or systems to use to get an advantage. Only pure skill.
I'm not so bothered by the difficulty however as I'm sure it'll balance out over time.
The fact that it won't let go of my hand & actually let me play is what's bugging me. I'm very very tired if being talked at & forced to follow people around.
Even World didn't do it this badly.
