Anyone else having issues with Wilds on a Steam Deck?
Hey guys, like the title says I've been having trouble having wilds getting to run without having it crash on my Steam Deck Oled and I was wondering if anyone else was the same and had any solutions?

Can't really play it anywhere else since my laptop sucks, and I'm a huge fan too so if anyone can give help that would be great!

Low Preset - AMD FSR Performance as ultra performance is like +3-4 frames, both are under 30 fps (25-27 with Ultra Performance, 20-23 with Performance). Frame Generation can get you a steady 30 with ghosting but the game runs smooth enough at the 24+ fps. Grasslands tank to 15-18 but it's playable. I was able to hunt the fire chicken without any major issues.

Run it with Proton Experimental Compatibility. The only major issue I have is the UI Textures are broken as ♥♥♥♥ lol

Edit: I forgot, turn Ambient Lighting to Low from Medium after you pick the preset. That's the only thing I changed aside from Motion Blur being off from the Motion Sickness Accessibility

I would play it in 240 if it just didn't crash but it crashes every 2 minutes. I don't think there's gonna be a fix until they update the performance, if they ever do

You're an actual hero for this. My fiancé is playing on our steam deck, and I've only had the game freeze once with zero crashes while testing

Thanks for the help! Although if I can ask a question - and sorry if it's a bit dumb - but how do I run it with proton experimental compatibility? Idk where that option is

Did it get better after latest updates?
The game is a disaster on Linux (much like it is on Windows), atm. Denuvo will soft lock you from your game for 24hrs if you have to tinker with proton to get it to work properly. I'd say wait for patches and hope that compatibility improves.

If you absolutely MUST beat your head against this particular wall, check protondb[www.protondb.com] for what other people have done to get it running. Also, I'd follow Proton's MH Wilds Issue Tracker[github.com].

Denuvo WILL slap you with a 24hr ban. Every new version of proton you use and every start option you add counts as a "new install" to them. I think I've even seen that starting the game under proton can be seen as a "new install". Even if you have changed nothing. Just be warned.
