Why does this game look so BAD?
I have been watching review/gameplay videos on YouTube. Many of the textures look like a blurry mess from a 2 decades old game.

This game costs 70 bucks. How is this acceptable?

Bro I had i similar problem but in my case i didn't have the textures. I mean like the walls an terrain you wont see them but they would be there. Fixed by turning off the compatibility mode on steam. It was running in compatibility mode for windows 8. That might be, also check that for the game itself as well. I hope that help. forgive my English, is my 2nd language. Good luck and blessings

Interesting. I would think it's the other way around. How can you not see the blur and PS3 level textures?

Yeh i've tried that already. didn't work. Tried so many things, editing config ini etc....Nothing worked so I gave up and just accepted that it's a bad game.

fake AI resolution + fake AI frames do that

It has nothing to do with upscaling. At native rendering it has the same issues. First of all the game just doesn't have super high quality textures even with the badly optimized DLC textures pack.

But more importantly there is 100 percent some kind of bug happening. There are a ton of insanely low resolution textures that are significantly worse than World. Low resolution textures are being loaded. You can prove this because turning the game off and booting it back up will sometimes fix the textures. They're still not great but they don't look like a PS3 game.

Also there's no such thing as fake frames dude. Generated frames might (but not always) increase latency to an annoying level but they literally have no impact upon texture quality whatsoever.

Also you can, in fact, turn off the frame generation if you choose. I ended up turning it on because you cant get the game above 65 fps without it.
Lmao what a joke of a take.
Talk about FG once you know what you're talking of

a huge improvement I just made was downloading high res textures and turning off Upscaling, runs a lot smoother and looks a little nicer at least

They had to cut a lot of corners trying to make this game run well on RE Engine and unfortunately with all they cutting they did, it still runs like hot garbage. It's not a case of upscaling either, even native it's a smeary mess with visuals that look downgraded from World.
A lot depends on the settings. At first the game looked pretty bad, but now that I've gotten the right settings I think it mostly looks very good. Basically mostly like World, except with better effects. Still, you need to be playing in 4K for that. Go down to 1440p and it looks like a mess. And Youtube's compression doesn't do the game any favors either since there's a lot of subtle effects that get affected negatively by it.

I do still think the game's unreasonably demanding for the graphics it provides though.

I'd recommend you old gen MH games. They never looked good either but that wasn't the point of the series. I swear ever since World came out and newcomers have been bandwagoning the series it's always this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ talk about graphics.
Long story short:

1. Obvious rushed product -- no one needs to debate this

2. Obvious developer incompetence -- also not really debateable

3. Unoptimised assets dumped instead of optimised

4. Game was probably converted to a Windows build with a script and no one did any actual verification of how it runs because even someone that has never touched a game in their life would think the game was in an unacceptable state.

In fact, I am thinking about bringing the game to the VA hospital and asking their thoughts.

Wilds has been in development for 7 years. it isn't rushed. You guys are really weird.

Wow, were you with the developers when that happened?

I'm guessing you also believed Cyberpunk took 8 years of development :steamhappy:

Turn off all upscaling.
Increase resolution scaling to 125%. 150% to my eyes seems to be 1:1 texture resolution but 125% looks good.

Quite a few games have started to do this. The resolution scaling set to 100% doesn't mean native anymore - just it's 100% of what the developers have decided to use, which is clearly a reduction of native res - for performance. 125 looks more like what I would expect. But unless you have a 4080 Super or better, good luck on running it more than 30fps...

If they allowed framegen with this it might be useful - but you can't.

Looks fantastic on my end. Did you configure brightness levels correctly? Maybe need to buy an hdr monitor

looks fantastic on my end and runs ok~

i have a 4080 and the ultra texture pack causes me to max/exceed my vram.
so those of you recommending it as a solution are dumb
