What decides pronouns for your Hunter?
EDIT: The answer is VOICE! Even voices make your character have female-coded pronouns while odd voices give male-coded.

Oh yes, first of all this isn't a clown bait post nor a LGBT hate post. I'm genuinely interested in what triggers this choice. :happy_creep:

Does anyone remember what dictates the pronouns you're assigned during cutscenes?
As I made a mix of both body types and voices during Beta I can't remember which of these options actually gives you he/him or she/her pronouns.

And op, I'm fairly certain it's the voice. My bf had a character with a male body and a feminine voice, and the NPCs would call his character a "her" every once and a while in cutscenes.

To complete the research, for people still interested by it, there are absolutely some mistakes/bugs in localization.
For exemple I chose to play as a huntress and therefore have all my titles with feminine gender used on my Hunter's profile (as my language got a distinction in gender for adjectives like most indo-europeans) but unfortunately when I visit other hunter's profiles their titles are put using my hunter's gender.
Kind of weird, I hope it's just a mistake and not someone using bad AI translator. :sotsad:

(Actually I wish we had all titles available from all genders to be able to do funny Hunter's profile such as Hunter's princess or Eat the Huntress)

grow the ♥♥♥♥ up lil homie
This is a localization-induced error, since English has different rules about using unsexed third-person pronouns and Japanese has different rules about using words that mean 'you'.
Hunters really dont care about pronouns, this is called immersion. its just a group of Humans working together to save the ecosystem from dragonlike ancient creatures, you think they are concerned about pronouns ? really ?????:steammocking:

Sounds like the confusion could have been eliminated if instead of Type A,B,C,D,E,F,G we just had good old Male/Female selection.
This is why I really don't understand why game devs are holding onto the unpopular "no male/female" thing with such a white knuckle death drip. Just let us unambiguously pick our sex. You could even hide pronoun selection behind a third "other" option if you absolutely can't let go of the wokeness

Well no type selection exists you just choose preset photos. But honestly it don't matter lol
I made a thread a few days ago calling this game woke. It got pretty big but it got closed and the mods sent me a message saying I broke the rules for creating a "pointless" topic. This game is indeed woke.

That Dragon Quest dev (Torishima?) said it in an interview. it's a massive global agenda to eliminate the concept of M/F

It is apparently "outdated":

Someone must suggest it to Capcom, other games like Dragons Dogma have this option:

To be honest it was the first DD, which released in 2013. I personally think still putting old "choose a gender" screen is outdated.
Choosing to put models that may be gender coded and then giving the player the option to choose multiple settings that may or may not correspond to this code is a good thing as it gives the opportunity to the player to do whatever he wants with his character.

I mostly regret an option to actually choose what gender your hunter will be called with as other games may have. This would permit a lot more possibilities even role-play-wise in RPGs (Dragon's Dogma included).
Why it is outdated - remains a mystery.

Languages and civilizations evolve, wether you like it or not. They evolve to match the common use of their people. As nowadays comports multiple notions of non-binority and multiple ways to call people with multiple types of pronouns or derivative (official neutral gender in germany for ID and language, lgbtq+ pronouns...etc Even the japanese watashi/atashi/boku/ore/... have been around for much longer than your life and permits to give feminity or masculinity to a sentence and an individual). You can see this phenomenon in multiple countries and big cities and even though the most visible part of this users are young generations, this has been around for a few decades if not more, hidden or kept secret because of a sort of segregation.

Therefore by comforming to old way of thinking you're keeping yourself away from an harmless linguistic evolution and keep being protective about an ancient way. That may be the case for multiple language as they are often kept closed due to a very limited group of privileged individuals in academies, but when you go on the streets and talk to people, you'll realize it's completely different than what some textbooks are refering to.

All those principles added to the fact that players are always asking for more content in character customization which you are actively against if you only choose to be restrained by your basic sexuality. I mean, when did RPG players complain about having more options in customization???

Also, as a lot of people may have missed 'for some reasons):
We are talking here about only he/him, she/her. You know, your normal 2 genders MAN & WOMAN, like ADAM & EVE!
And there are only those two genders represented in MH:Wilds! Incredible! The devs listen to you!

You! A pronoun! OMG! :squirtmeh:
