What decides pronouns for your Hunter?
EDIT: The answer is VOICE! Even voices make your character have female-coded pronouns while odd voices give male-coded.

Oh yes, first of all this isn't a clown bait post nor a LGBT hate post. I'm genuinely interested in what triggers this choice. :happy_creep:

Does anyone remember what dictates the pronouns you're assigned during cutscenes?
As I made a mix of both body types and voices during Beta I can't remember which of these options actually gives you he/him or she/her pronouns.

And op, I'm fairly certain it's the voice. My bf had a character with a male body and a feminine voice, and the NPCs would call his character a "her" every once and a while in cutscenes.

Other people are saying NPCs they/them you but there was a cutscene where I got a "go help him" and I was like "wait what controls that pronoun"

yeah I am confused, im getting "go help her" but the base model i chose is masc. Maybe its by voice?

I thought my pronouns for this game was Hunter/Hunter LOL

Me too! The NPCs keep referring me as a woman but i'm playing as a male character (using male pre-sets to modify my looks). I just wish to change my pronoun back to male pronoun...this is destroying my character's identity LOL does anybody has a solution to this problem? is it a bug or anything @@

I mean honestly this is why having a pronoun selector on its own makes more sense because at least then it's Clear and Obvious instead of having to make a thread where none of us know what it's tied to.

By any chance: did you choose one of the female voices (the even ones)?
It seems like it might be the voice that decides your pronouns...

Also it not only decides the gender in cutscenes but also in the titles for the hunter's profile card. It's even more striking when you're playing in a text language very based on gender (latin languages for exemple) as you will be locked having either Hunter or Huntress and equivalent for every title.

I'm really surprised that most people haven't seen this hidden feature, especially the "anti-woke people" since in the end there are only he/him and she/her in the game contrary to what they blather on the forums.

I'm pretty sure it is: Using a female preset, even after modifying it + Voices, walk animation has no bearing

Thank you for taking the time to respond to this thread lovely. You do secretely care apparently! :8bitheart: :Dandelion:

Trollers aside, knowing what makes this interaction in game would also help all the players that don't want to be assigned some pronouns, even the clown farmers. :happy_creep:

Hmmm, maybe the gender selection? Like you know, male or female.

As you may know, if you've played Monster Hunter Wilds, there is no gender selection.
You choose a model and voice indepedently of gender as the mention of gender isn't there. :happy_creep:

Someone must suggest it to Capcom, other games like Dragons Dogma have this option:

To be honest it was the first DD, which released in 2013. I personally think still putting old "choose a gender" screen is outdated.
Choosing to put models that may be gender coded and then giving the player the option to choose multiple settings that may or may not correspond to this code is a good thing as it gives the opportunity to the player to do whatever he wants with his character.

I mostly regret an option to actually choose what gender your hunter will be called with as other games may have. This would permit a lot more possibilities even role-play-wise in RPGs (Dragon's Dogma included).

that is pure disaster lmao even npc is confused what to call the player now

No actually they seem pretty consistent. They use "Hunter" as a title and then always use the same pronouns that may be linked to the voice you've chosen at character creation.
