if you played the beta check your steam controller settings to see if it claims you have a custom layout. if it does, try hitting "revert changes" and then go to the layout list and you should see the "official capcom layout" available. Picking that fixes everything for me (it was not visible or selectable prior to me pressing revert layout)

editing your buttons if you are using steam input is on game actions tab not using the xbox or gamepad buttons that you put that was my initial conclusion then tried capcom official one and saw how they mapped it, since its officially detected unlike other games on steam it functions just like in warframe on pc XD hope this helps

I was having the same rumble but no detection problem as others and this was the only thing that worked. I didn't have to revert changes, but the Official Capcom Layout in steam input was the only thing that worked, even trying running as admin
Hey. So I was having this issue as well. I hse a Vader 4 pro. It registers as an Xbox controller for steam input. Anyways, I checked steam settings and ensured all controller inputs were active. On top of that, downloaded the Xbox extended feature. Also, unsure if it made a difference or not but I took steam off admin mode. Rumble settings are off too. Took a while and alot of trial and error.
Check the Controller Properties for the game. I normally disable Steam Input as I like to use native XInput for the game. But Monster Hunter Wilds need Steam Input in order to work, even with a XBox Controller. So check if Steam Input is enabled for your Controller.

I was having the same issue and I fixed it by doing this ( right click monster hunter wilds - Properties - Controller - Override for Monster Hunter Wilds - Use default settings ) Make sure to restart your game
For some reason it was set to none by default and now it works just fine with my ps5 controller haptic feedback and all that hope it works for you guys as well ♥

I fixed it by doing (monster hunter wilds > controller icon > layout > official layouts > choose the default > apply layout )

This is because it's enabling steam input, which can cause a lot of input latency. not ideal to use this unless you have to.

Same issue here, xbox and ps5 controller, neither one works without using steam input.

I was using the saved template after launching the game (preferred confirm in the O button w nintendo layout on steam big picture) and the controller just stopped working.
I tried restore the layout once, and didn't work.
but after giving it a second try, it just work :bcportalhi: and I change the layout for my needs
