Don't bother with people who trash talk weapon users. Just play whatever you enjoy playing. In reality most of us don'tr care what you play as. Just do your best to be a helpful teammate and enjoy the hunting.

Which saddens me. World was my first official debut in the MH games. It pulled me in and made me understand the hype.
I had tried a demo of MH4U like way back in the days and really couldn't get it.

Also good to note that I am going through the older games slowly, just.. slowly cause I hate the control scheme for the camera and the 3ds hurts my hands :(

From what I have personally witnessed, a lot of older fans gave a lot of ♥♥♥♥ to people that started with World too. And people from World also gave ♥♥♥♥ to people from the older gens. I can't say which side started first, but yeah. World divided, for sure.

Yeah Switch Axe ain't for me personally so I cannot properly comment on it, but Charge Blade is quite the same in that regard. Just didn't want to make a thesis on weapon types lol.

Like yeah some weapons are definitely easier to handle, like SnS for example or Hammer which are fairly straight forward. Hell, even Greatsword is a very simple beast.
But to play at a high level and keep good hunt speeds, it will require the player to invest time and effort. Which is why I love MH.

I think the best way to put it is:

Every weapon has variable skill floors with some being easier to pick up than others. The skill ceilings are all very high but relatively equal. The time it takes to master an SnS is about the same it takes to master Charge Blade for example but SnS is easier to pick up than Charge Blade
