Polygon: Monster Hunter Has Sold Its Soul To Casuals
https://www.polygon.com/review/527310/monster-hunter-wilds-review-pc-ps5-xbox

[A]s Monster Hunter has continued to burgeon in popularity, with Monster Hunter: World selling an additional 1 million copies in the lead-up to Monster Hunter Wilds, the series has undergone a fundamental shift: discarding the need for extensive battle preparations in favor of ease of access, an expanded narrative over simplicity, and story told mostly through text-based quests. It’s the team at Capcom pushing Monster Hunter further and further into the mainstream, for better or for worse.

Or like IGN... Played low rank, saw the credits, decided they finished the game and write a review, while being oblivious to the fact that there is a high rank/tempered monsters etc... then express how much of a "veteran" they are.
Even High Rank hunts, tempered monsters and all, felt a touch too easy. And as I clocked in at around 60 or so hours, having soloed the main scenario and all of the endgame content, I walked away feeling unsatisfied.
Those medias have proven that they are not beyond lying though. They contradict themselves so much nowadays that a cop would book them in "just in case".

Simple solution, just add hard event content. The fact that it's not available at all times adds to the appeal even further. Content at least as hard as the Arkveld demo fight in difficulty would be great(which is only hard because the lack of equipment upgrading), but they could go further, add some arch tempered fights. Make monsters faster, more aggressive, etc etc.

I'll throw myself into the sun before I ever care what Polygon says. Even if it's objectively right it becomes objective garbage the moment their hands, mouths, and minds taint it.

You could never do that, which means that only the latter is realistic.

Rise exists, was a fun game, shorter campaign than even this apparently. People played it a ton...was a good game. People need to fking relax.

clunky hell. Posing after every consumable use, attack with right thumbstick.

Its not casual, just smart gameplay advancement.

100% guarantee the Polygon writer only played through Low Rank and thought that that was the whole game. There is no universe a game journalist would be able to actually beat the game when they claim they only got a new weapon twice and new armor once. It's either a bait article or the author genuinely doesn't know High Rank exists.

Literally every single review both from "journalist" and content creators all call this a baby easy game. I'm pretty sure there isn't a single review in existence that doesn't actively call it the easiest thing ever. These are reviews by people with hundreds of hours in the game itself so saying all of them are wrong is just pure copium. Most hunts in low rank are going to take at best 5 minutes which is shorter than Worlds low rank hunts WITH defender gear. Meaning this game is going to be as easy as world is when using defender gear.
go play god eater 5 then, oh wait

I watched one review where a guy literally said at the beginning of his video that he could not get 15min into Worlds because of how complex/convoluted the game was, and then he goes on to say that Wilds is a "Monster Hunter game for everyone".

Reviews like this even if positive literally make me not want this game even more. Sure Capcom will get a short bit of success with the casuals but are they thinking about the legacy hardcore players and long term play ability at this point?

I guess as the saying goes "nothing lasts forever" and MH WIlds is definitely not what I want from the next big entry in the series.

From a "gaming" activist...err journalist, sorry I slipped.

Yeah sorry but if you take any form of gaming journalism seriously I can't take your post seriously.
