Less than half the earnings compared to World+IB and around 30% of Worlds playerbase (mainly Switch users which only have rise+sb available to them and the second biggest group was PC, console numbers were a joke)
So, assuming that the lead developers didn't change their mind, we will not see a B team title MH series game anymore and they put those resources into spin-offs instead.
The B team was for handhelds titles.
edit: in fact: for the Switch Userbase, which happens to be on average around 9 years younger than the average console/pc audience. And it represents those kids quite well.
We are talking about ~30€ for a copy not even 3 months after PC release, having a sale every month, each time getting lower and lower and reaching the 14€ mark around november in the same year it released on PC.
Because it felt better than world. The traveling the world felt better. The switching skills, and having your own play style felt good. The gimmick was better than World gimmick.
World for me was all fluff and no good substance. Rise was the other way around, it felt good to play, it did not have the stupid claw. And while rise had its problems. It was not even close to the problems of world.
Like it is hard to take people serious when they bash rise and praise world. World babies are the worse.
Rise problems like giving all weapons counters and such was stupid but when it came to game play and flow of the game? Rise hands down better than world.
World was literally a console exclusive for over a YEAR.
Also, with the whole B team crap? Still? Do I mention the different forks of publishing for this? There's two different lines between Sony and Nintendo, and don't get me started on Monster Hunter Online, or Frontiers, that never left the East.
But as for "true" hunters, given Rise had super moves...
It's a spin off. Same with Generations. This doesn't mean it was "bad", far from it. I honestly want Hunter Styles and the arts in the flagship title.
This "debate" is ultimately pointless. They're separate games with different mechanics. You can like both, and neither. You're not "forced" to pick a side.
But then, whenever has rational debate been fun? Everything is a cult! Death to those that don't like the thing I like! Wooo!
....Shoot me.
