Official Monster Hunter Wilds Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread
We hope you’re all enjoying or will be enjoying Monster Hunter Wilds shortly! While we hope all of our fans will have a great time with the game, there will always be some cases here and there where the game may not function correctly under certain environments and/or hardware combinations.

Before providing any reports, please ensure you've followed the steps below to rule out problems with your PC, Steam, or the game’s files:
________________________________________

Troubleshooting Guide
________________________________________

1. Check the game’s system requirements
Please make sure you meet the minimum requirements for the game, outlined on the bottom of the Steam Store page; if you do not meet the minimum requirements for the game, this may result in poor framerate, or the game not running.

If you do meet the minimum specifications but not the recommended specifications, you may want to try turning down the graphics settings, if you haven't already.

If you’re using a multi-GPU setup such as NVIDIA’s SLI or AMD’s Crossfire technologies, we recommend experimenting with disabling these settings, as they may cause compatibility issues with the game.

Capcom does not warrant nor officially provide technical support for PCs that do not meet the official, minimum system requirements, as well as guarantee normal game operations with mobile GPUs, external GPUs, and pre-release builds of Windows OS provided via Windows Insider Program.

If you are playing with the High Resolution Texture Pack:

A minimum of 16 GB of graphic memory is required to install the High Resolution Texture Pack.

High resolution textures may not display properly without sufficient graphic memory. In addition, insufficient graphic memory may cause the game to become unstable regardless of what option is selected for the Texture Quality graphic setting while the texture pack is installed.

If the game becomes unstable after installing the High Resolution Texture Pack, disable it using the following steps:
  1. Within the Steam client program, select LIBRARY, located near the top left of the window. Next, right click Monster Hunter Wilds in your list of games and select Properties, then select DLC.
  2. Find Monster Hunter Wilds - High Resolution Texture Pack in the list of DLC, then uncheck the box in the INSTALL column beside it.
  3. Restart the Steam client.
________________________________________

2. Add the game’s folder and files to your anti-virus program’s exception/exclusion list
Some launching issues may be attributed to certain anti-virus software preventing the game executable from launching due to a false-positive error. We recommend users add all of the following files and folders to the anti-virus and firewall exclusion list to prevent this issue. If these files and folders were already added previously, try removing them from the exclusion list and re-adding them.

MonsterHunterWilds.exe Default Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWilds

Steam.exe Default Location: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam

Steam AppData Default Location: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Steam

For a guide on adding exceptions to your anti-virus software, please contact the manufacturer or visit the official website of your anti-virus software.
________________________________________
3. Give administrator privileges to Steam and the game
Some users can get the game running properly by running Steam.exe in administrator mode. This can be done by right-clicking on the .exe file and selecting “Run as administrator.” If that doesn’t work, try running the game’s .exe file in administrator mode as well.
________________________________________
4. Update your Video/Graphics Drivers and Windows Operating System
Try updating your video card drivers, as oftentimes outdated drivers can cause a variety of issues ranging anywhere from in-game graphical problems, to the game not starting, and more.

For the latest Nvidia drivers, click here[www.nvidia.com]

For the latest AMD drivers, click here[support.amd.com]

Additionally, please ensure that Windows Update has been run and that all the latest updates have been installed on your operating system.

If you still experience issues, you may want to try performing a clean installation of the video driver set. This will remove any extraneous driver DLL files or game profiles that existed with the previous driver installation, which may be causing the issue.

To do a clean video driver install, many enthusiasts use a third-party program called Display Driver Uninstaller [www.guru3d.com] (DDU), which completely removes components that were part of the original driver installation package.
  1. Run DDU and uninstall old video driver.
  2. Install the latest OEM video card driver and reboot your PC.
  3. Run the latest DirectX installer package[www.microsoft.com] and reboot your PC.

IMPORTANT! Please don't forget to reboot Windows upon completing a video driver installation. This will help reinitialize the driver and the graphics card using the new driver.
________________________________________
5. Check your graphics driver settings & computer power settings
Some high end integrated graphics chips and modern laptop class discrete GPUs may work, but have not been tested, nor are they officially supported by Capcom. Laptops and PCs with dual GPUs, such as an integrated graphics processor + external graphics card, may need additional configuration in the event the integrated processor is overriding the external graphics drivers.

To change your primary graphics card, follow these steps:
  1. Open the Start Menu on Windows and go to Settings
  2. Select System
  3. From the Display tab, open the graphics settings and then select the game (if it is not in the list, you can add it manually by clicking "Browse")
  4. Click on Options and select "High performance"
*Please note, the actual steps may differ depending on your system environment.

For details on how to change your primary graphics card from the GPU's settings, please contact the GPU manufacturer.

Additionally, double-check your desktop/laptop’s power settings by performing the following:
  1. If using a laptop, ensure the charger is connected
  2. Open Control Panel
  3. Select "Power Options"
  4. Select "High performance"
  5. Launch the game
________________________________________
6. Update DirectX
We recommend downloading and running the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer[www.microsoft.com] to ensure DirectX is fully up to date.
________________________________________
7. Update your Windows Media Player codecs
Certain cutscene segments use video playback which relies on Windows' default Media Player codec.
If you're experiencing video playback issues during cutscenes, please try installing Microsoft's Media Feature Pack[support.microsoft.com]. Certain Windows editions, particularly in EU territories and Korea, may not have Windows Media Player and its codec preinstalled.
________________________________________
8. Verify the game’s cache in Steam
Try verifying the game's cache in Steam. You can do so by following the steps outlined in this Steam support article (reposted below). This may find missing or damaged files that need to be repaired, even if you've just installed the game. You may also try temporarily disabling your anti-virus while verifying the cache or launching the game, as on occasion anti-virus programs may flag games or the files necessary to play them as a virus.

To verify the game’s cache, follow these steps:
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Rename (or delete) the folder "MonsterHunterWilds" in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common (default).
  3. Launch Steam.
  4. From the “Library” section, right-click on the game and select “Properties” from the menu.
  5. Select the “Installed Files” tab and click the “Verify integrity of game files...” button.
  6. Steam will verify the game's files - this process may take several minutes.
Important: One or more files may fail to verify. This is normal for most Steam games. The files that fail to verify are local configuration files that should not be replaced as part of this process. You can safely ignore this message.

This process allows the Steam client to scan every single file you downloaded for this game, verify checksum of each, and compare that against the file manifest data on Steam's content server. If the file is missing or has a different checksum value, you will receive a message stating "X files failed to validate and will be reacquired." What this means is that some files have either been deleted, or may have been corrupted. Click “Close,” and Steam will automatically download and/or replace the problematic files.
________________________________________
9. If you are experiencing issues with game stability, please confirm that there are no other applications running at the same time.
Powerful software like video recording applications can compromise the game's performance and stability by using a lot of CPU, GPU, memory, or I/O bandwidth. If the game is suffering from performance issues, please close as many applications as possible while playing.
________________________________________
10. If you are experiencing issues with game stability, delete your shader cache files.
As some graphical issues may be caused by damaged shader cache files, you may want to try deleting these files by performing the following:

For AMD GPUs
  1. Right click on your desktop and open AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition
  2. Go to “Global Gaming Experience” under “Gaming” and perform “Reset Shader Cache”
  3. Press the Windows key and launch Disk Cleanup
  4. Select your C drive and proceed to “OK” with the "DirectX Shader Cache" checkbox ticked to delete the files
  5. Delete “shader.cache” and “shader.cache2” located in the installation folder containing MonsterHunterWilds.exe
Note: You can skip this step if you don’t have any “shader.cache” or “shader.cache2” files

For NVIDIA GPUs
  1. Right click on your desktop and open NVIDIA Control Panel
  2. Go to “Global Settings” under “Manage 3D Settings” and disable “Shader Cache Size”
Note: Please be sure to remember your original settings before disabling it as you will need to revert this setting after you have finished deleting the shader cache. The default setting is "driver default."
  6. Revert the settings in step 2
________________________________________
11. Disable Compatibility Mode for “MonsterHunterWilds.exe” if enabled.
To disable the compatibility mode, follow these steps:
  1. Right click on “MonsterHunterWilds.exe” located in the following folder:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\MonsterHunterWilds
*The above is the default location.
  2. Go to Properties
  3. Open Compatibility tab
  4. Untick “Run this program in compatibility mode for:”
________________________________________
12. If the above does not resolve the issue, disable the Compatibility Mode for “Steam.exe” located in the folder below.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam
________________________________________
13. If you are experiencing issues with the game display, please check your display settings.
Go to the Graphics tab in the Options menu and adjust the 120 Hz output setting and v-sync setting if you experience problems like flickering or blank screens. Display issues may also be solved by adjusting your monitor settings. Please read your monitor's manual for more information.
________________________________________
14. If the frame rate of the game is unstable, please follow the steps below to lower your settings and improve stability.
How to lower your settings:
  1. Open the options menu from title screen menu or the in-game start menu.
  2. In the Graphics section, set the Graphics Settings option to Low or Medium.
________________________________________
15. If you are experiencing crashes caused by insufficient VRAM while performing shader warming, please contact Intel Corporation or the PC vendor.
As your CPU may be damaged in this scenario, we recommend contacting Intel Corporation or your PC vendor.
________________________________________
16. If Frame Generation option is grayed out and cannot be enabled, try the following:
For Windows 10, turn on “GPU scheduling” on your Windows system from “Graphics settings” under “Display” in “System” settings.
If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend updating your driver to the latest version.
________________________________________
17. If you experience input delay or performance degradation when using frame generation, please try the following.
In the "Options" menu, select "Display" and set the vertical synchronization to "Disable."
________________________________________
18. If you still experience visual/audio-related issues or crashes, please contact our customer support [www.monsterhunter.com] with the detailed information below.
A) Your System Specs
  1. CPU name & model
  2. Name/model of the desktop or laptop (if available)
  3. Graphics card / chip model and the amount of VRAM
  4. Video driver version number

A good deal of this information, such as the graphics card model and VRAM, are available by running a DxDiag report.

To create a DxDiag report:
  1. Open a "Run" dialog in Windows. This can either be done by typing "run" into Start Search, or by holding the Windows key and pressing "R."
  2. Type "dxdiag" (with or without quotes) into the box that comes up.
  3. From the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window, wait for the tool to gather the information it needs, then click "Save All Information..." which will ask you to save a text file, named "DxDiag.txt" by default. Save this file somewhere where it will be easy to find, and have it ready to attach it in your response.

B) Your Graphics Settings
Your graphics settings for the game can be found in the config.ini file, located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWilds (default). Please create a copy of this file and have it ready to attach it in your response.

C) Give as many details about your issue as possible
Please share your specific issue and the location(s) where you’re experiencing the issues – for example, if you’re having problems with the framerate, is it happening constantly, or is it during certain modes, during gameplay, etc.? The following information can greatly help as well:
  • Have you confirmed you’ve met at least the minimum system requirements for the game (See Step 1 in the Troubleshooting Guide)?
  • Where and when did the issue occur?
  • What were the character(s) doing when this issue occurred?
  • Did the issue resolve itself when you rebooted the game?
Please also have screenshots or video of your issue ready to attach in your response (if available). If you have a video, please upload to YouTube as an unlisted video and share the link with us.
*If the file size is too large, please let us know when submitting your ticket.

D) Detailed reproduction steps, if consistently reproducible
The more detailed info you can provide, the quicker the error can be attempted to be reproduced and investigated.

E) If you experience a crash and have a crash report, please include that information.
When the game crashes, a folder titled "CrashReport" will be created in the following directory by default: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MonsterHunterWilds
In most cases, a crash report will be saved in this folder as a .zip file with the date and time of when the crash occurred. Please provide all of the .zip files found within. If that's not possible, please send the file most recent to the time when the crash occurred.
Note: The location of the CrashReport folder will be displayed on the crash report tool when it has finished generating the report.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (I know tah it's old, but hear me out, it still can run topnotch games smoothly)
GPU: RTX4060 8GB
RAM: 16 GB
GAME ON: SSD
Resolution: 1920x1080 (HD)
Texture pack: standart

On every type of settings presets and combinations (even extra low potato 0.5 descale resolution + everything low) - 20 FPS
With NVIDIA DLSS on QUALITY and FG on - medium preset with low RT, and low fog and everything, but medium textures - 60 FPS with spikes at 75 high and 50 low (ANISOx4 and x8 has no differences)

Optimization isn't bad. There is no such a thing as I think.

TBH: other new games (2020-2025 releases) run stable on my pc (except dota 2 main menu) - Hogwarts Legacy - 100 fps, Cyberpunk 2077: PL - 90 fps in 2k and 60 in 4k mid settings, even CPU related ZZZ and Genshin run in 60 stable fps in 2k

SO, as I think, there is two main problems: game engine (RE Engine) and wanished into shadows optimization

Every driver (GPU, CPU, Windows 10 and UEFI) are up to date

Hello All,

I've a big problem with MonsterHunterWilds because my PC load textures really really slow and that's impossibile (i think) that is my setup fault.

My friends still playing with pc older then me and don't have problems. I don't really understand what is the problem.

My pc Setup:

- AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor 4.05 GHz;
- RAM 32,0 GB DDR4 3600Mhz;
- MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G GAMING X TRIO;

Please, someone help me.. I've already tryed to remove compatibility in windows property and set administrator permissions too (steam.exe and mhwilds.exe) and still have problems.

Don't really know if the problem is my Pc or this game really not optimized.

Thanks!

Downloaded the game today and I've spent the past 10 hours troubleshooting why it keeps crashing after launching.

Setup spec:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU: RTX6700
RAM: 32 GB
Srorage: SSD
Resolution: 1920x1080 (HD)
Texture pack: standard

I've been experiencing crashes all day right after launching. My drivers are up to date as is my Direct X. I've verified the game files, cleared shader cache, disabled steam overlay and even uninstalled and reinstalled the game multiple times. My antivirus and other programs are not interacting with this and I am running it in admin mode.

I do not understand why this game keeps crashing other than it being a graphics related issue according to the crash report with the assistance of AI to understand what might be failing.

Please fix your game or I'll have to request a refund.

still Crash when i'm in the Gemma's menù..

i cant undestand. I cant build anythink..

PLEASE FIX!

I am having an issue mentioned earlier in this thread, but I hadn't seen a solution. I was playing MHW, I am able to connect to a lobby, public and private, and begin play, but very regularly, it displays error C1081-AAA-AAA2, Lost Connection with Server, which forces me into offline play. I am on a wired ethernet connection to a stable internet source. My internet isn't cutting out (I have been on voice calls when this happens and they don't cut out). Are there any fixes?
Scoope 3 月 16 日 下午 6:33
Game was fine at first, but after a patch, it started crashing every 10-15 minutes. Thought it was my graphics card, so I switched to another GPU (RTX 3080 to 6800XT), but it still crashed. After several crashes, I checked the error code and got a c0000005 exception error. Not sure if that error was related, but I turned off XMP in BIOS, and it seems to have worked—no constant crashes since then!

System Specs:

OS: Windows 11 Pro
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7800X3D
RAM: 32GB
Motherboard: B650 AORUS ELITE AX ICE
GPU: RTX 3080 VISION OC / 6800XT PowerColor
Storage: Samsung SSD 980 PRO 2TB

Critical Report: Frequent Game Crashes with DSE Controllers on Steam
We would like to urgently address a widespread compatibility issue affecting DSE controller users. Numerous players utilizing DSE controllers on Steam are experiencing frequent game freezes and crashes during gameplay. This problem exhibits high reproducibility, with crash incidents occurring in over 70% of usage scenarios according to community reports.

While our hardware configurations meet or exceed the recommended specifications, the instability persists exclusively with DSE controllers. This suggests potential conflicts in either:

The game's controller interface implementation, or
Steam's DSE controller driver integration.
Given the severity of the issue and its impact on gameplay experience, we respectfully request that Capcom:

Collaborate with Valve to prioritize driver compatibility testing
Release a hotfix addressing controller input handling within 72 hours
Attached are crash logs from 12 independent DSE controller users and video documentation of the failure pattern. We stand ready to provide additional debugging data as needed.
