secondary: Bow
The damage on Hammer is so low and sub-par with the rest of the weapons unless You spam the same 2 moves.
I wouldn't recommend it to a newbie, plus the weapon needs a buff, Hammer dealing 7~9 damage on normal attacks is wrong.
1. Sword and Shield
2. Insect Glaive
3. Switch Axe
4. Gunlance
5. Hunting Horn
6. Hammer
7. Lance
8. Dual Blades
9. Heavy Bowgun
With how I did this in World, Rise, and GU I'll be using the Spin the Wheel app on my phone to decide which weapon I'll use in the next hunt and keep all weapons I'm working on wishlisted for upgrades. Including armor sets. It's slow progress compared to just using one weapon, but the variety is so much fun.
Very simple weapons to pick up, mastering them isn't as hard as other more complex weapons, and they teach you the basics.
