I agree, just thinking about the many games that get highly praised from these big reviewers just to get massively hated in steam reviews. I'm certain Monster Hunter will not fall in this category.

They're used for ♥♥♥♥-flinging while throwing accusations in line with "you'd say the reviews are important if they supported your opinion!" by rabid haters/fanboys.
Other than that, they have no use. Gaming journalism is a joke with the majority of journalists being lacking in both the writing AND gaming department. Doesn't help that they sell out and/or promote politics on top of all of that.

Wouldnt be shocked if game journalists had a f-ed up windows install, or installed the game on sum 2t seagate hard drive instead of an SSD. They usually cant even really play games.

I'm kind of surprised the average is that high. Most of the top reviews in google news are 8/10s.

IGN guy says game is not challenging enough. Monsters are easy to beat, that's what i scared the most. They really had to make the game harder man.
