Do you see other players in world as you free roam?
How exactly does multiplayer work?

You only see other players who are in same lobby in the main camp

So only in the hub, not randomly across the world?

The village works like the Gathering Hub did in World.

But to see other players in the free roam world, you need to invite them to your link environment.

Darn. :(

I think its like the MHW lobby just bigger. In the hunt 4 player coop is the max. No random players showing up in the field. The lobby limit feel pointless. 16-100-10000 its change nothing for my best knowledge.

This is a good thing, not a bad thing. 100 players running around in the open world is something not even most MMO's do. That's why they have channels.
You only see other players in the town/village/hub area. If you leave town you have to be in a 2 to 4 player team and even then you can only see your teammates. This is not an MMO, in fact it can be played offline with AI companions.

Only the hub. That being said, you never know, that could be something in the future if they make another MMO spin off title.

Maybe i'm just an old man and don't quite get it but the hubs to me seem pointless being that size. I don't want to go back to base camp and see a 100 odd people idling around and lagging my screen while spamming random sh*t in chat.

If i want to play with people or want help I will throw up or join an SOS or join a party.

I see myself playing private lobby 99% of the time to stop this unless i'm missing some glaring advantage to it?

You will only see up to 16 visually. But it just presents the opportunity for you to post a quest and have people join you without SOS. This means you could seek out a lobby of experienced players only yada yada yada.

You have to do an environment link to share the world with other players.
