Because it was a poorly received mechanic overall? People loved it at first because it was "Neat" but hated it because you had to rely on some yahoo to mount the creature through various means, waste time holding onto it (Which lowered your DPS) and then shove a nut into its face to yeet it into a wall.
I'm all for wacky mechanics, but that was too wacky.
Wirebug was added primarily for mobility and monster shenanigans. The combos they added with wirebugs have been semi-incorporated into wilds. Now we have the seikret, which is a better "Good boy" than the palamute was as well. I just like to think of wilds as a World+rise combo package.
dual blades gets it as a wound-break for some flair, i believe, but thats about it.
but honestly, the hook was such a poor mechanic, as it obligated you to use it, all IB monsters expected you to create a wounded area for you to hit, and if you did not do so, you were functionally sandbagging.
if it didn't have that mechanic i suppose i wouldn't mind it existing, but it was just a poor attempt of a game design, it happens, they've made many weird mechanics over the years.
personally: i want the return of styles like from gen U, i miss valor greatsword
