Did those complaining about performance play World on release?
I'm curious to see if this is merely an issue of newcomers who didn't play World on release with the PS4. Objectively the performance is actually BETTER than World was as 60 fps with occasional drops is FAR better than the PS4's 30 fps with drops. I'm seriously asking you people to go watch Digital Foundry's World analysis before complaining about Wilds.

World until Iceborne release wasn't smooth gameplay wise even above 60fps.

It was very jittery and stuttery.

Now they seem to have it all smoothed out and it runs noticeably faster.

Meanwhile Wilds is as smooth as butter as low as 40fps (which..is just as well for my aging 5600x)

So, what's your point? It's OK if it ♥♥♥♥ now, because it was even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ before?

No, I was playing on PS4 pro at the time.
But how is this relevant at all?

2 wrongs don't make a right.

"World was bad so it's fine for Wilds to follow the same route!" - take

Not only is that a dumb statement there is a difference here, that being high chance Wilds won't be fixed properly thanks to the engine and DD2 is concrete proof of this. How about you watch Digital Foundry's Wilds analysis instead?

Yes and it was actually playable on release on a 1080. Until they completely broke kbm controls with Icebornes launch lol.

Simple I got hundreds of hours on the PS4 and I put hundreds more into the PC port. I think most of you people are just newcomers who are here explicitly to complain and aren't actually interested in playing the game. I'm genuinely asking does ANYONE actually think their whining is somehow going to improve performance? Do you think Capcom isn't already aware? If so then why continue? Do you ENJOY being angry or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ online?

World was playable on a 1080? Then wilds is perfectly playable on a 4080.

You couldnt go high 1080P at 1440 even. You can with Wilds.

Just saying.

The PC release was nearly a year later and it still ran below 60 fps 1080p on the most popular card at the time.

I played world at release and yeah, it was pretty bad. We had 3 major complaints that were constantly said.

Performance
Stuttering
Textures.
(Bonus multiplayer issues, but wasn't capcom's fault.)

Hilarious, if you look at wilds what do you see people's complaints about?

Performance.
Textures.

One of which is going to be able to be fixed on day 1 (You will need a very strong GPU for this.) and performance has already said to be improved by the early players, but it will remain to be seen.

Let's not forget Rise's PC launch which had a shader caching issue that locked a lot of people out of the game for 3 weeks =P.

I just ran the benchmark, highest settings for most things but I disabled motion blur, put volumetric fog on low - no upscaling or framegen. It ran average at 59fps - with occasional dips to 45.

However, the game was ugly as ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hell, it literally looks worse than MHW in every way possible - and yet, I can run MHW maxed out at 120fps.

My old build with an RX580 used to run MHW at like 50FPS. come on now, stop making excuses for capcom and the RE engine (in a setting like this, RE engine looks and runs amazing with games like DMCV and REM4KE).

I mean ♥♥♥♥, Dragon's Dogma 2 looks a whole gen ahead of Wilds, yet they somehow perform the same? get the ♥♥♥♥ outta here.

If you played World on the PS4 then I feel sorry for you, I had a roommate who actually convinced me to buy it for PC because he liked it so much and he had it on PS4, so when I'd see how it ran on his console after playing it myself it was like my eyes were ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dying, it ran between 15 and 30 fps.

Is that really your standard for PC gaming, bro? a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ console?

That's something these people can't handle though.

Point is: it'll eventually improve when its the MH games on PC.

I don't think it will, dude. Capcom did all they could to improve Dragon's Dogma 2 performance. it's either an RE engine fault or a coder fault, either way MH Wilds is buttttttttttttttttttttttttt ugly.

They MIGHT be able to fix it, but probably won't be soon. Their REX (RE Next Engine) was implementing new tech, etc into the existing RE Engine in phases. They outline on their R&D Youtube channel that the engine MUST be backwards compatible with prior games seamlessly. They already know that one of the challenges of RE Engine is that it can't efficiently handle large volumes of objects, which are things present in these open world style games, even if MH isn't open world, it has a lot of similarities due to the whole ecology thing they're so insistent on going into. But it's also possible it'll never actually truly be fixed, and just over the next 10 years as hardware improved (specifically CPUs as that's the core issue), it'll get better to run.
