Need help picking a gpu for this game 4060 or B580?
Hi, I've been using GTX1080 since the Napoleonic era, It has served me well all these years, but after I tried playing the Beta and saw it strugling to get the Capcom new magnum "dong" opus into the back of its throat I think it's time I get a new gpu, and I've been eyeing RTX4060 and Intel Arc B580

I was wondering which one would you all recommend, thanks!

Neither? Both aren't great, but 4060 blows B580 out of the water and if you are absolutely must get something from budget segment, get at least 4060 Ti and with 12gb VRAM. Better yet, consider RX 6750XT or RX 6700XT, they would be cheaper as 12gb GPU while having similar performance at the same price point.

what ? what are you saying ? 4060 better than b580 ? i recommend to check that card right now, you are saying something really wrong here, right from the bat B580 has 12gb of memory

Between the two, b580 hands down.
HOWEVER, I don't know if the b580 is really much of an upgrade from a gtx 1080. I mean, its technically better but unless you have a motherboard/cpu that supports re-sizable bar (which isn't guaranteed if its older) it might be a side grade because you NEED re-sizable bar to get the full performance of the b580.
I would look further into that before spending money if I were you

The deciding factor isn't the GPU but the vRAM. Need about 12GB for upcoming games just to be on the safe side.

Check youtube for benchmark you can get an idea if thats your ideal performance.

Pure gaming? B580.
Gaming + Productivity work? RTX 4060.
bro just wait for 50 series

5060

If you had to pick between both B580 will last longer cause of VRAM.

Most GPUs with 8gb of VRAM struggle with new games right now, unless you are happy to use upscalling with 4060

The Intel Arc B580 is the windmill slam choice over the 4060.

It should be faster and has much more VRAM.

HOWEVER, and this is IMPORTANT, we don't yet know how good Intel's driver support will be for Wilds, so it would be a gamble.

But it's definitely the card I'd choose.

Why, so they can spend $150 more for the same performance with less VRAM?

Has that been confirmed? Either way it should result in the 40 series becoming cheaper too no?

Not always. If the performance gain in the mid range of 50 series stay similar than the price of 40 wont change much if anything it might go up like it did with 3060 when people found out it performs better than 4060.

Also 5060 has been confirmed to have only 8gb of vram so it will be dead on arrival and 5060 ti will be probably 200$ more than 4060 is right now.

If there is anything worth waiting for is the RX 9000 series as that might offer good price to performance ratio.

im pretty sure the price spike of the 3060 was due to the chip shortage that was going on at the time but we'll see what happens
