I generally find the MH Wilds information on game8.co relevant and nicely presented. Their gunlance guide seems well structured and on point.
I've deliberately blocked their results from searches since it was getting tedious to have to keep scrolling past it all looking for real info.
This you have to decide for yourself, but I find their guides contain significantly more detail than those by IGN. But I'm not here to advertise, just thought it might answer the question =)
To me, G8 is the JP version of whatever the japanese use as they are effectively the mainstream JP site for tips
Although, I expected it to be completely in JP, it's in EN for some reason.
I effectively have to use G8 for other JP games as there are literal strats called G8 which uses the site, although they aren't the most effective strats, it's some attempt at unifying methods.
Basically, if it's a game with JP audience, except G8 to show up, that's their method of getting information in one way.

I prefer to focus on the explosion damage so running with artillery and the "ammo capacity" thingy is ideal for my gamestyle. Explosions scale with raw damage but not with affinity nor elemental damage. So getting skills related to that is what I'm going for. Agitator, Resentment, and offensive guard, the weird thing from the new Rai Dau set that I always mix up with another skill.
