Monster Hunter Wilds not launching...

Anyone else suddenly having this issue?

I've played the game all week with no errors or anything odd happening, and I always shutdown my computer at night before sleeping. Today I booted it up as usual, and clicked to launch MHWs but—after saying launching and then running—it just suddenly stops and drops.

I've restarted, verified my NVIDIA drivers, uninstalled and reinstalled, and even validated the archives through Steam... but still can't get it to actually run so I can play. :/

No mods, but found the issue. Somehow the VS Redistributables got deleted/corrupted…?

Unsure how, but doing a clean install of them again fixed it—had to boot Halo from Steam to finally figure it out since theirs did tell me what the error was, something that MHWilds doesn’t have coded to do when it fails apparently. 🙃🥲

Boot a different game from your Steam until one of them hits what might be, in my case when I tried booting a simpler game it ran with zero issues, but when I tried running Halo it finally told me so VS Redistributables were either corrupted or missing

A quick reinstall of those fixed the issues, though I’m disappointed that MHWilds launcher doesn’t seem to have an error code output for that coded into it.

Glad you found the issue.
Maybe the Windows Event Viewer would have told you the same if you searched for the wilds exe
just something to keep in mind if the halo trick does not work next time
