Capcom probably couldn’t have hit their financial targets without launching Monster Hunter Wilds on Steam day one.
Monster Hunter Wilds sold 10M+ copies at 9,900 yen (or 69.99 USD) minimum. That’s about 100 billion yen in revenue.

Deferred revenue only went up by 20 billion. So yeah, half of that money hit the books right away.

Steam reportedly made up over 50% of sales. That’s 50 billion yen.

Without the PC release, Capcom could’ve missed 30 billion yen in revenue. That’s not a rounding error. That’s the difference between smashing earnings and missing the mark.

And yeah, the PC version isn’t fully optimized. Probably because they rushed it to make Q4. But hey, gotta hit that 15% profit growth somehow.

Capcom didn’t “choose” day-one PC. They needed it.

I think while I am willing to be sympathetic, as much as I can be to a big company (because wilds not releasing probably would've resulted in the total death of the series, I can't imagine how bad the layoffs would've been) their inability to make any comment or promise to fix the performance issues have is something I cannot forgive in any capacity.

Thanks for the info though, chief :mhwilds_OK:

This was discussed an week after release.
It wasn't just the performance which was rushed, unfortunately.

I wonder where Capcom is going when Kenzo leaves and Ryozo takes place.
Yeah, lots of people talk about this.

Unfortunately, it really seems like the damage done by the rushed release isn't planned to be fixed.

So, uh, I don't care.
MHFU was a success when they sold 150,000 copies in the west.

How this industry has changed.

The release wasn't rushed. They could've had another year and it wouldn't have been significantly better.

finally a worth opinion! one that is not using the same weak arguments, like a hivemind of stupidity!

but, yeah, seriously speaking now, it's a shame that margin profit, and higher ups are the ones taking the lead, this game should have been developed further, there is no denying that the current state is abysmal, crashes, high end hardware struggling, game depends on frame gen and upscalers to work.
no game should be released like this, but to no one surprise, it's selling well, it's the power of a well established franchise, that didn't have atrocities like this one before.

Are you saying they intentionally delayed the release of high rank zoh shia, implemented many skills so undertuned that they almost don't function, and were fully satisfied with the completely unacceptable performance of the game? Based on what evidence?

I believe you, honestly. LMAO

HR Zoh Shia on release doesn't fix anything. It's the only thing that doesn't make TU1 look as bare bones as it could look.

The game is designed around upscaling and framegen to reach 60 fps. That's a deliberate design choice and has nothing to do with the release being supposedly rushed.

If the marginal improvements to the game in the last 2.5 months aren't enough evidence for you, I don't know what to tell you. If you expect the game to get anything other than marginal improvements before the DLC, I have some crystals to sell to you.

Just look at what actually changed.
Thanks for the informative post
I would have been completely fine with them not reaching their financial targets.
They shouldn't have set those targets so damned high.
well perhaps they should not have screwed up the game lol and btw your numbers are offf and no lol capcom ,make soo much money its not funny lol they rival biggger companies like nintendo with how much cash they make lol

Water is also wet.

Known factor before the game even launched. You literally have no point. Capcom always flagships or franchises q1 and this quite literally been a thing for FORTY YEARS, and next year will be the same and the year after that will be the launch of the Wilds phase 2 DLC, being roughly the same size as the base game, to the surprise of exactly no one.
