Low Performance On High Refresh Rate Systems Possible Fix
So I've got a 175 hz display- and usually try and play games at 120+ frames. MH wilds just isn't one of them I can do that, the game just doesn't run well.
I've tried everything, mess with every setting in the graphics I could, and just nothing would work.

I've got an Intel i7-12700k ( boosts to about 5.2 ghz )
64 GB of 32000 DDR4 Ram
Asus Strix - RTX 3070

And I was getting like, 40-50 FPS, sometimes up to 70 or so but it had substantial delay.
I even tried running the game on the lowest possible settings, with DLSS at ultra performance, and nope, still 40 fps without FG ( using the DLSS -> FSR mod ) and having trouble staying at 60 with it on, mostly hovering around 45-55.

So here is what I did.

I went to Nvidia app- went to the graphics section and then to Monster Hunter wilds.
I hit optimize, and set it to the lowest option.

I Have the DLSS - > FSR mod in so I'm using that.
I start MHWilds, and go to the settings.

I change my capped FPS to 60 only.
Then turned off DLSS and FG, then re-enabled them both.
Last moved my quality options up, Textures at high, meshes at medium, with other settings set to taste.

Now for whatever reason, I'm running smooth 80 FPS now on medium / medium high settings.

It happened right after I changed my fps cap settings from 175 to 60 to be exact. I hope following these steps gets others a similar result. Something must have been bugged in the graphics options.

Most likely. Thanks for sharing. If you need some more tweaks, have a look here

You are still running at 40 but now you have FG motion smoothing turned on. That's why it says 80. Frame Gen.

Changing things to uncapped and I'm hitting 90 with FG

But I'm saying, that before I did this, even with FG, I was only hitting 40-55, hardly even 60.
Which was so strange for my system. I fully understand the mechanics behind FG.

Interesting, because your post said, and still says, "without" FG at first.

It's strange for your system but not for this game. It's terribly optimized and run like garbage. That's why performance is so bad. It's possible you thought FG was enabled when it wasn't.

No, it for sure was. Something in the graphics was bugged, and causing issues. I can't be sure which, but again, things instantly improved as soon as you changed the in game cap from 175, down to 60 ( and now I'm just leaving it uncapped).

Edit: Maybe I wrote it wrong- but again, before even with FG I was only getting 55-60 nothing more before, and that was on even lower settings than I am now.

That's most likely due to your CPU. It's not a bad CPU but Wilds is terribly inefficient at utilizing the CPU and you are probably bottlenecked.

Which sucks, because the 12700k I feel is a pretty damn good CPU.

The 12700k still is a good CPU. It's Wilds that sucks, unfortunately.

Note: I've upgraded to Windows 11, and it seems the improved E core P core management has fixed a lot of my cpu related issues in games.

IF you're running a 12th 13, or 14th gen intel CPU, and are on Windows 10- it seems to be much smarter at using these.
