A Question for Hunting Horn Mains.
Hey guys, so in most of the games I've mained HH except for Wilds where it feels a little weirder, I couldn't get to grips to it initially, though watching some YouTube videos and learning what has changed it's not so bad, after beating the story (both parts) and unlocking all HH craft options, I was curious, which 2 Hunting Horns you recommend for Supporting other hunters?

also would you pair it with Wide-Range lv. 5 to maximise support?
I normally use it but I'm curious what people are running.

That really depends on your build, playstyle and party.

If the party has e.g. Dual Blade users and bow, naturally I would go with stamina/sharpness boosts

Wide-Range is all nice, but personally I do not think it is necessary, unless you are okay with sacrificing damage for the cost of supporting others. It is just quite a dangerous path to go, unless you play with a party you know.
wide range is kinda redundant when you can run heals on songs and regen on top of it, i think theres prolly also defense songs. you should probably just run without wide range if ur trying to help kill faster but if you find yourself getting hit tons, then yeah wide range is not a bad idea cuz ur healing urself and the team.

i havent touched hh in wilds yet but i did play it alot in worlds

Wide range feels massively overkill because just with the def/ele buff from arkveld horn echo bubble your party can facetank tempered Jin Dahaads one hit ko move and survive with like 40% HP. Also you can actually do ok damage if you build for it. You still want to be getting in there and bashing that head as much as possible.

The arkveld horn comes with horn maestro and slugger baked in. It has all the important stuff like Att L, sharpness and knockback resistance plus the defence buff mentioned previously. Its really the only one i ever use.

Oh nice! i'll get that built, I've been running Rathian & Doshaguma Horns, but thinking that maybe Arkveld and Congalala may be a better option?

not worth it to play support with the current monster lineup
You just build for damage, really. I would advise either going for full Raw damage and stacking Attack Decorations, or going a Blast/Affinity damage build. My favourite Horns so far have been Artian/Omiltika and pairing it with a more supportive Horn like Queen Chordmaker.

Starting fights with Queen Chordmaker, applying Attack Up and Recovery Speed, and then switching to a damaging Horn like Omiltika for Status Attack Up and Offset Melody.

As others have said Wide-Range is just overkill, and I only really advise running that with Sword and Shield.

Grandfather Nurgle demands I use the Rathian bell
Ignore the naysayers of widerange, full support is viable.

Full support:

Widerange , speed-eating, free-meal and medicine mainly.
Use parts of the squid-set that boosts your HH tunes. (I think you need 3)

Do not do what I did and make the "OTHER" set, read the 3 set bonus.
I had to farm the entire set twice :)

And really any complimenting armor parts you like, I personally use the speed-eating gloves and the Dober legs.
(I run mushroomancer, full wide-range, free-meal, speed eating, full medicine on this, KO and sonorous is a bonus)

This way you eat blue mushrooms at an insane rate, and the heal is instant.
(also shared 100% of the heal's value)
You also share mushroom buffs with your team.

You could slot in quick-sheathe for faster access to potions, but it's QoL and not obligatory.

This with conga-horn and Rathian.
(conga has atk up and affinity echo, with stamina up L and def L)

Any horn you feel is useful is what you go for, really.
Lots of good suggestions in this thread already.

There's 49375946 more aggressive builds out there, so I wont add to that.
"Just stack damage" is boring, you do plenty with echo-bubbles and avoiding corner-horning anyway.

SnS users with wide-range STILL have to get out monster's path to use it without getting slammed mid-eat, it's no different for someone who has to sheathe their weapon other than QoL / speed.

The congala has a great echo bubble but the songs suck. The ajarakan has some good songs like ear plugs and Att L plus it echo is speed and evasion which is pretty nice.

Full support is viable if done correctly. And doing so is not that easy.

If done correctly a significant damage output can be achieved even for high DPS parties.
