Sheath to sharpen: why is this back!?
It was nice when we no longer had to sheath our weapon to sharpen it.

So why the ever living ♥♥♥♥ did they bring this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ back?

And why is no one talking about this??

or mount and sharpen (which you should be doing anyway unless you're just trying to sharpen while the monster is mounted by someone else).
And kill the age old tradition of flexing by sharpening in the monsters face while their attacks barely miss you?
♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥.
1) I'm 90% sure it doesn't. I sharpened my weapon many a time while the Support Hunters were mounted and don't remember ever needing to unsheathe afterwards. But human memory is notoriously faulty, so I'll check and edit this.

2) I agree, but flexing is definitely player preference lol

Gonna test 1, hold please

Edit:
Testing both in and out of Focus Mode. Radial Menu Sharpening does not sheath your weapon. You may accidentally pressing the sheath or dash buttons, both of which sheath your weapon automatically

Why is no one talking about having to sharpen blunt weapons?
I find it best if you want to sharpen to just do it on the mount at lest you can move that way

:zaglol:
That's a whole 'nother can of worms.
That's been a thing throughout the entire franchise afaik, but the game before this one made it so you didn't have to sheath to sharpen anymore and now you do again.

This is a myth. People who worked on World also worked on Rise and some of those people also worked on Wilds. There is no "A-Team"/"B-Team"

Because you can sharpen from your radial menu and keep the weapon out, or mount and sharpen (which you should be doing anyway unless you're just trying to sharpen while the monster is mounted by someone else). If you're trying to whetstone from the item bar, that will sheath your Weapon just like in World and Rise (unless you're using SnS)

Less that you're sharpening them and more that you're cleaning off brain matter from the hammer head for Hammer and you're making sure your notes don't fall flat on Hunting Horn

Doesn't that still put the weapon away?

And kill the age old tradition of flexing by sharpening in the monsters face while their attacks barely miss you?
♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I don't think I've sharpened OFF my Chocobo, so it wasn't an issue

Because that's a big part of that MH charm. We have been sharpening those hammers and HH since 2004 or something, why stop now?

♥♥♥♥ that ♥♥♥♥.

New tradition is doing a whole bbq cutscene in their face now.
You can still sharpen without sheathing, but only through the radial menu AFAICT.

(This was also the case in Worldborne)

wait wut? Never heard of this? I can still sharpen with the weapons drawn if I press up on the radial menu. You don't have to sheath your weapon... even on charge blade if you're in sword or axe mode you can still press up on the radial menu. Works fine.

Okay well that's something at least.
I gotta break the habit of using the item bar. (you'd think after 3 games of having a wheel I'd default to it...)

:zaglol: I have started doing that. I'm at a 50% success rate currently
