Wound + Focus Strike is the best buff Lance got.

Long time lance user here.

The worst part of lance is the sense of lack of offensive {OOMF} move that makes you feel powerful.

Charge Counter might be the closest one per se, but its damage output was never something to write home about despite its satisfying thrust animation lol.

You felt as immovable object in face of fire storms. While your teammates are rolling around trying to dodge fire balls, you just bunker down right in the face of monsters.

But visa versa, monsters felt pretty immovable to you too, lacking damage output to reliably stagger monsters.

But with this new addition to the combat, I feel like true alpha male to slap down the monsters at will.

Monster winding down a powerful attack? Bunker down. When monster is done, the part they used to do the attack is often the weak point you can slap with your shield, beating it down to the ground.

With focused attack of lance, you often attack one part of monsters excessively, opening up wound spot. With no disadvantage of having to dodge away from monster, you are glued to it. When you see the wound? Slap it down to the ground.

Monster is running amok? You have at-will jump attack. Mount it and put it down to the ground.

You want even more? What about para spear and bind it down while you are completely locking monster down to a punching bag pinata.

The amount of control you have over a monster is insane. I am also hammer bro so no hate, but I think the lance has it even better over hammer in Wilds.

I know lance is not the most popular weapon, but oh man, this is most powerful version of lance I've ever played.

Dude I love Lance in Wilds. I especially love the Grand Retribution Thrust off of Power Guard or Perfect Blocks. It just feels so good.

It's the counter skills we get off of guarding now. Makes me wonder how World got such a stripped down version of the weapon.

I told my friend I'd add IG and Gunlance to my weapon pool for variety when I got to HR I ended up adding IG and Lance because, while I do plan on adding all the weapons once the story is complete, Lance just feels great. Very mobile and aggressive like SnS (my main) so it just clicked almost immediately.

Long time lancer here too and yeah it feels spectacular, also funny to me that you also are dipping into hammer as your secondary weapon, completed HR with that pairing!

I used Gunlance and while it was very strong, and also fun.... I enjoy Lance a lot more because there's more interaction.

Gunlance I just spam the same 2 combos over and over.

It's pretty dope for greatsword, too. The amount of hits from a focus strike almost makes status greatsword viable, plus you get to immediately true charge strike right after

Well that's the optimal playstyle, but even if you play non-meta(wide charge shelling) it's still stronger then lance.

Hope they keep this style of Lance moving forward and build upon it, where the moves get more power the more you block, it's so fun, Grand Retribution is a very good addition. Though "payback thrust" could have a better animation, not a fan of the "bouncing" it does to make a higher swipe, looks a bit goofy.

i only started playing gunlance in this game, and i like it.. it doesnt feel that slow like world or previous titles... like it has a purpose finally and does some dmg same with normal lance
