and modding is always a potential risk, if you cant take that risk just dont do it.
But if you're worried about your save then make a backup. You should always do that with any game you've modded anyway.
Open the folder here:
Note: the ############### is your steam user ID, if you're the only one who uses your PC, then there will only be one folder inside "userdata".
A mod that might use REframework that alters stuff such as adding items, might break your save if CC releases a patch and your mod isnt updated.
100% is safe but my advice, always back-up your save file. Read the requirement before installation.
If you are that worried, than follow the instructions of the previous commenter and make a manual backup of your file. But I've had no issues ever thus far since 2018 in 3 different MH games.
