I miss older map designs
Not talking about navigation or interactables. Those are great.

I mean the actual visual design of the maps. In this game it all just blends together. After the plains and the forest which are both a joy to explore, the design just kinda falls flat.

Basin still has the volcano and river (rotten vale 2.0) areas that break the monotony, but the rest is just black gunk covered cave walls. Ice shard has a spiders' nest and a church ruin, but the rest is just white gunk covered walls. Wyveria has the huge tree in the middle which would make for awesome scenery, but it's all nothing but whites and pale blues blending together over the ENTIRETY of the map.

Where's the colour? where's the wild ideas for environments? Does going for a futuristic ancient civilisation theme really have to be this bland?

Just feels like missed chances left and right for the sake of "safe" design. Don't get me wrong, the gameplay is a blast, it just sucks that 3 out of 5 maps have less visual appeal than wounded hollow and make me want to do the hunt and get out immediately.
