personally would invest those deco slots on other than GUARD decos anyway in weapons, and armor wise invest full 7/7 def rating with 4/4 arkveld, you cant die anymore (tankiness and self heal when attacking), with full WE and partial agitator + burst. very comfortable setup I use as a base for all weapons - game is not a speed race anyway.
Perfect guarding might make all this irrelevant, but at that point - when you are sure you have the timing right every time, why guard in the first place ? Just dodge, it's the same thing but safer. SnS has a very good long roll, hop, slide, hell even you can go airborne to dodge lol. If you don't wanna block, don't use Guard Up. If you'd like to block, better take it.
