Where the hell is this thing?
I have never seen it, but i have like 5 captured cause i randomly use my bug net when i see fish.

So now that i need to actually fish it up i cant find it anywhere.
Interwebs say oasis in windward and base camp in scarlet forest should both have it, but noooope.

caught like 40 sushifish/whetfish/virid bowfin at this point ><.

it's a rare spawn. catched mine on - oasis. just rest, fish, wait, repeat

make it plenty and then rest... I found mine at oasis and also catch another in the forest camp when there is plenty

You can find them at the Area 13 Oasis in the desert...
... OR at that big pool near the first pop-up camp you get automatically in the Ice Cliffs...

I accidentally caught one with my net while underwater at the underground lake camp (area 8 Scarlet Forest). So I immediately went to a ledge to fish and caught another. I don't know what season it was but it wasn't the rainy one or the one with red water, and it was in the day if those things matter.

do u know about the virid bowfin? Im sure u do, if u fish. Its a very common green fish that does nothing, u just catch it for fun and it always appears w sushi fish , whet fish.... the common fish.

Sometimes a rare version of this fish, the gravid bowfin appears. The quest giver talks about it, seasons of plenty, like after the environment recovers from extreme weather and during the the early morning or night. It looks like a virid bowfin( green) but its orange instead and it drops a rare food item when you catch it. I always bother to net the fish if I see it.

You can find it almost anywhere, like the oasis in desert even in the fish pond w that quest giver. But it has to be the right time.

Ok so i finally got it, turns out i wasnt in the "plenty" time. Also i didnt spam reset for it, so thats on me.

The rest of the quest was super easy though? Like the stupid bowfin is a pita but the fancy squid just shows up in broad daylight in the area 17 lake, and that place also has every kind of whopper spawning nonstop.
Caught like 15 just for funsies, and about 5 got away cause i suck at actually setting the hook, the minigame is pretty easy tho.

Did they change the fishing mechanics? cause it was pretty easy for me to get the fish interested in the bait (i hate sushifish though, why do they want whopper bait?!), other than like 1-2 fish which seemed bugged they just would not go for the bait ever.

Also i now feel the pain of everyone complaining about the seikret standing on top of them, but you can just angle your camera higher to see over it so not a huge deal.

So yeah super surprised how easy this is. you guys using the ranger deco?
Its meant to make fishing better somehow so i used it, no idea what it does tho.
