Yes, this demo was amazing. Can't wait.
I see 4 hearts. What's that?
Demo was fire?
I agree.
It still won't be what he wants.
Just curious what you didn't like about it. I thought it melded the mechanics of like NioH and souls pretty well. Also like that it's more combo oriented and looks like buildcraft will be a thing :D
It sure is easy to see when the only experience someone has with MH is from Worlds or later. Man, I remember when Worlds came out for the PC, I was stoked that they were bringing this series to a whole new group of people. And then it got released, and, it was fun, but so stripped of what made Monster Hunter what it was. But, Worlds was still good, and needed *some* grinding, and also there was still an element of needing to equip for different monsters, and to continually upgrade your gear.
Then Rise, and it just ♥♥♥♥ all over it. Fun, but it just wasn't Monster Hunter. There was no challenge, if you actually got hit you could just wirebug away instantly, and your cat healed you, so you didn't even need to think about healing. Also, you could just scale even the tallest mountain, you didn't need to learn the layout of the areas, or hunt monsters, just run to them and wail on them. All but killed the grind, you didn't need to hunt the same monster more than 4 or 5 times for all it's gear.
Now for Wilds, sure you can't just scale mountains now, and the wirebug is gone. But instead you have seikrets that, even just psychically knowing where every monster is at all times, even take you there, players are so lazy that they can't even be bothered to go to the monster. When you complete a quest (not if, but when, because of the upcoming focus points), you are given even more rewards than normal, but in case that isn't enough, injuring a monster to create focus points and then breaking them, not only does it stunlock the enemy, and deal even more dmg, it also gives you even MORE items. I don't think I hunted a single low rank monster more than a single time, and could make every piece of its armour. The cat heals you even MORE than Rise, and in case that wasn't enough, there are vigorwasps literally everywhere. You don't need to touch your potions, but in case you do, you also don't need to worry about running out of carried ones because you can refill at any point in a quest. Gathering items is easier, but it's pointless, because the game just gives you hundreds through the story (I'm now at over 1,000 potions in the item box, and enough herbs to make 500 more). Equipment literally doesn't matter aside from basic defence, since elemental damage is a joke, and weapons deal enough to enemies it doesn't matter what you use.
Go back to Freedom, or Generations, even the low rank quests, you need to prepare for, what you go out with is it, and the stats on the armour MATTER, if you don't pack fire res for a Rathalos, you're gonna have a bad time. If you take a fire sword to Rath, then you're gonna have a bad time. High rank, you don't even get the small item chest and get sent to a random starting area. You need to HUNT the monster, since you aren't psychic (unless you specifically use certain armour skills). Paintballs actually had a use for you to track them down. Want to capture it? You actually had to pay attention to the monster, you didn't have the minimap AND your palico straight up tell you "Hey, it's able to be captured now".
Legit, as much as I like the better graphics and comfort of play, I seriously regret this series coming to PC.
That's what I tried to say.
The title updates are more like a "bonus" for the players. "hey check this out"
It's not really a live service. The event quests and stuff, they've been doing these forever. Rehashed quests to do for cosmetics.
MH is literally just about chilling, doing some hunts with friends and chasing fashion.
And I WELCOME it.
The fun is in actually fighting the monsters, not doing some ♥♥♥♥♥♥ maintenance or wasting your time on nonsense.
And by the way, thank the f for autopathing to monster. Now when it fudges off, I can just relax and grab a bite or a sip of a drink, while getting there.
