Is the G. Lawful boars gunlance better than the artian gunlance? And why if so.

Armour skills are a little bit more subjective depending on what you want to do or accomplish, but I have a mixed set.

Here is my fill build actually:
Head - Ebony Helm B - Counter [2]
Chest - Blango Mail B - Ambush [2]
Arms - Dahaad Shardbracers B - Ambush [2]
Belt - Ebony Coil B - Physique [1] + Counter [2]
Legs - Dahaad Shadgreaves B - Counter [2]
Talisman - Chain Charm II [For burst. No decorations obviously]

Weapon - G Lawful Bors - Focus [1], Artillery [3]. Magazine\Ironwall [3]

This will give you the following skills on the weapon:
Arty 3
Guard 3
Load Shell 2
Focus 1

And this on Armour:
Agitator 5
Burst 5
Counterstrike 3
Ambush 2
Adaptability 1 (Love this skill!)
Constitution 1

Set skills will be:
Binding Counter 1
And Burst Boost 1 (Are you seeing what I'm going for yet?)

The big play - get an ambush, get rocksteady on, do the full burst combo twice, ending each part with a Wyvern. I don't _THINK_ this is meta, but damn is it fun :D
Why do people like the jin dahaad armor? Binding Counter doesn't seem too good.
Agitator mostly. Really easy way to get agitator 2. Binding Counter isn't great, but agitator is 100% worth it. Also adaptability is mandatory for the chronically lazy, like me.

I'd rather have level 1 offensive guard than the third level of Guard.

Arty 3 (Extra pew pew damage)
Guard 3 (You have a shield, don'tcha!?)
Load Shell 2 (Gives you an extra shot)
Focus 1

And this on Armour:
Agitator 5 (When monster enrages, so do you)
Burst 5 (Incredibly silly stat boost)
Counterstrike 3
Ambush 2

Your build is actually almost the same as mine except I'm running Ajarakan Coil for Partbreaker and I'm running Evade Extender for mobility instead of Counterstrike. A couple of minor differences on some of the other gems, but otherwise similar. The Ebony Coil is on my list for a non-PB build, but I'm a sucker for PB, so I find it hard to give up. Funny how 2 people who didn't copy other people's builds came up with an almost identical loadout. Great minds, I suppose.

TBH it works well with Counterstrike. Since the gunlance comes with Guard 2, I just kinda took it all the way. Could probably use some tweaking, but it works out well!

That's not a bad idea actually, might have to try it out and see how that works. I think my rational was "I'm too slow to NOT get hit so may as well poke back."

But could be fun!
From my understanding it mostly comes down to the shell stat "slighty strong" is actually +22% shelling damage.
Artian weapons have no bonus to shelling, and since the fullburst combo is the majority of gunlance damage and that spams shells there is nothing the artian weapons can do to compensate for that 22% damage loss from shelling.

As a vet in G.Lance, what is the purpose for Wide shelling? I understand the Normal and Long. But Wide shelling... uhhh... still confuse till this day.... I am being honest....
G. Lawful Bors uses Wide shelling with "Slightly Strong" power, which provides a 1.25x multiplier to shelling damage compared to the baseline Normal shelling. Lawful Bors, while also a strong weapon, uses Normal shelling with "Slightly Strong" power. Wide shelling inherently deals higher damage per shell than Normal shelling, giving G. Lawful Bors an edge in shelling-focused combos like the Multi Wyrmstake Full Burst.
