MH vs Dark Souls
I had a someone try to convince a friend to play MH by saying, “It’s like Dark Souls but monsters.”

Am I crazy or is this a really bad comparison?

If you compared earlier iterations of both games, Say Dark Souls 1 & 2 and Monster Hunter up to MH4U, they were quite similar in the way played. But as time moves on, they're definitely distancing themselves from each other.

Stop comparing games that aren't the same

The point of a comparison is to compare things that aren't the same

Monster hunter is essentially souls without trash mobs and with bosses that have more than 2 minutes worth of health. Though low or high rank are super easy comparatively MR is where its at. Fatalis is way harder than malenia or dlc radahn
Here's My Credentials of Almost 1k+ Hrs in souls game

They aren't installed on this pc rn.

Dark Souls is all about real fake difficulty due to enemies with unfair statistics but really really really stupid and exploitable AI.

If you don't believe me, just play any ranged/sorc build throughout the series and watch how hard they've been struggling to nerf ranged abilities to compensate for their horribly bad AI that legitimately cannot handle such complex and overwhelming gamer strategies as "moving to the left while targeted" or "being flattened with a very big sword before they get a chance to move while the player abuses hyper armor aka 'high poise'.

Dark souls is legitimately kind of easy, they just hide the easy mode behind the sorcery class.

Don't give me any of that "That's not how it's supposed to be played" ♥♥♥♥, they wouldn't have hundreds of items and spells throughout the entire series if it wasn't an intended playstyle. I say this as someone who has beaten each of these titles nude with a shield. Noone is bound by your dumbass challenge run playstyle.

haha love this. Sorcery is so easy up till ds3 and elden ring... when they finally decided to address it. Ds2 was a cakewalk with it. even without it, just hugging 90% of the bosses left sides gets you through it.

Ds3/Elden ring easy mode is just hyper armor abuse with heavy weapons tbh. There's so many player options to make the games easier, you just really need to discover them for yourself through exploration. Basically the point of the titles is to make things easier through exploration and exploitation.

MH easy mode is not paying attention to the fact you're only fighting 3 star untempered monsters and then calling 3 friends to beat its head in with you every time.

The only correct comparison is the slow and deliberate attacks that leave you open, and this is only present in demon's souls, dark souls 1 and dark souls 2 to a lesser extent. Incomperable with any other fromsoft titles.

Monster Hunter exsited long before Dark Souls. So yeh kinda not a fair comparison.
Makes you wonder. If someone never played dark souls before, how would people compare it to?
Retsubty 17 MAR a las 16:05
Nah, Dark souls is harder than MH. The fights are shorter because they test you harder. They are more intense.

MH allows you to heal 20+ times and die 3 times per battle. But it's also more lenient in many more ways. MH is more about endurance.

Listen average elden ring is harder than average mh (think godrick vs khezu) but peak mh is always harder than peak elden ring

Hardest encounters in GU are the EX Deviants. You'd say they are harder than Promised Consort Radahn?

Maybe solo. But as a group, no shot.

Listen mate im not enough of a niche gamer to have played GU back in the day, if older monsters are harder than worlds then i guess that just proves my point more.

Solo fatalis is harder than consort (i forgot his new name before) radahn, with or without cheese. In a group fatalis is definitely harder as (assuming you are the host) your mates dying wont fail you the fight in radahn. Plus a lot of radahns damage can be negated by the golden braid

Is there a way to do Promised Consort Radahn with a four man group?

I would compare the combat to Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West, rather than Dark Souls.
