Side missions need to be easier to find
Damn near every time I go to windward planes looking for a new side mission thats supposed to be there, I spend like 10 minutes looking for it. it doesn't show up on the mini map, and if it is showing up on the detailed map it blends in with all the rest of the icons on the map. The whole damn thing is so cluttered

you can filter the detailed map.
If a quest doesn't show up, it's likely the NPC is away or in their homes which, just like the food offers, is pretty annoying and a waste of time, yeah.

You could just go select it under Optional Quests at Alma

I can't find any filter for side quests.

You just turn off all the other ♥♥♥♥
Ok so goto the map goto the enviromental map.
at the top of the monster list there are yellow icons that say stuff like "X wants to talk".
That means there is a new side quest in that zone.
Click that message, there will be a prompt to track it. Click yes.
Then hop on the seikret and let it uber you directly to the quest npc.

But sometimes you get the little yellow flower icon but there's no "so and so wants to talk". If I can't find it on the map in ten seconds, I just leave and forget about it. Not sure if it's a bug though.

exactly, if a side quest isn't immediately clear where it is thats a failure on the part of the ui development. So much of the QoL we've gotten in these last few gens is to get you right into the hunt. side missions are an absolute failure in that way
Im pretty sure thats cause only 1 quest can be tracked at a time.
However all active quests show up as little flowers. The enviromental map also shows in progress quests too.
I find it much easier to find side quests in wilds just cause it tells me when 1 pops up in some random village im never going to visit again.

The npcs walk around into non accessible areas the player can't get to at times. They walk back around after a bit. The NPC's are not really static.
