Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds

How Monster Difficulty Actually Works (and why it seems different for others.) Also how to get harder fights more often.
Basically there's a star ranking system for monsters that is never explained.

Gaijin hunter explains it really well in their video here: https://youtu.be/50eo6-BJJ-w

Essentially tempered monsters start a 3 stars and go up to 5.

A 5 star will do 225% additional damage to you and have just as much more HP to chew through compared to the normal 3 star variation of the same monster, (which also means more rewards from damaging wounds in the long run).

The reason things feel so trivial most of the time is the sheer rarity of these 5-star monster investigations while 3 stars are incredibly common.

Basically if you want more difficult fights, more often, look for tempered monsters with 5 stars beneath their portrait, then save the investigation before starting your fight with them too.

its dosent exits , maybe look harder but they are not , lvl up armor and buff some sheet , the game is no brainer , is made for Tourist Hunters so theres almos no Hard quest ... maybe Fishing is Hard ... but no is not
I think the monsters have a set amount of stars depending on type?
Like i have never seen an 8 star chatacabara, or a 3 star arkveld.

you're both confusing whats being talked about, the pink difficulty stars not the rank of the mission stars
All they need to do is increase damage taken on hyper armour when popping wound and remove staggered animation when wound got popped.

yeah you're right i just noticed it after i went and looked again, the pink stars only go to 5. they probably should've just rolled that into the mission rank, there's a very big difference between them and the mission rank being the same doesn't really reflect that

Idk.. I'm pretty sure I saved a couple of 7 and 8 star tempered, killed them both a few times and still didn't really find it all that exciting. Dropped the game before HR 50. I just couldn't do it.

I mean, isnt it standard practice for capcom to drip feed hard fights through events? And the DLCs add in g rank or the equivalent typically?

Pretty sure Toaster and his wife Blue Toaster were added in title updates for world, so I fully expect the same moving forward.

Because the mission rank is a pure formality, used to simply determine at what point in your progression they become available.
Imagine needing some dorky youtuber's input to figure out how a simple game concept works.
