Everyone wants to block/ban each other.

I thought the Monster Hunter community was really united and friendly, it's why I decided to give the series a try (and loved it enough to 100% achievements Wilds).

But all I'm seeing lately is hate, negativity, and rage. Is this the true face of the MH Community or is it just Steam Discussions being Steam Discussions?

In general, gaming has gotten more toxic in recent years and beyond the more cultural things, it has more or less devolved into this and them thinking where people feel entitled to their own experience (They they personally define) and anything that evenly remotely challenges this is a bad thing.

Its a thought process present in almost every comment, from complaining that a game is too short over admitting they consumed it too quickly, or calling out people for playing certain ways.

At the very least this is how most steam forums feel. Im sure its true elsewhere.

Nah, it's just steam and you can see that situation in any game discussions. It's better to use reddit to communicate with mh community.
Have to agree. Though normally I despise Reddit, MH community and MH Wilds community are better there. I think maybe Steam forums are not overly moderated. Any time they are, people cry foul and attack the game's developers for being heavy handed against criticism.

It doesn't matter what you say, he's just farming reactions.

How old are you? The constant rage baiting is frankly so immature.

echo chamber? Wtf are you talking about? We are talking about Video Game Forums, not politics.

what is a video game echo chamber?

Wanting to go to a forum where people arent trying to bait you or troll you?

If I want to go talk about my favorite video game, I dont need to look through thousands of topics of people trolling because they are bored and just go on the most popular video game forums to provoke people.

there is constructive criticsm, and htan there is rage bait.. I very rarely see the former on any steam forum

If you cannot see it, then it is a you problem. Over here we are warned at school about reddit for obvious reasons.

This 10000000%

There's way too much rage bait on this forum and they are getting rewarded for it.

When you're deflecting every single point that I make, not wanting to understand anything, and then say "leave me alone" maybe forum discussion isnt for you.

Go play your precious GenU.

You arnt interested in Wilds at all XD

Reddit is like one step above this place.

Real life is goated because you can call the police if someone is at your door bothering you.

Or if I'm in school and someone is sitting in the other room calling me insults over and over, they could get in trouble. You know.. like normal?

Like idk you can't ust like harass bait and screw people over in real life without consequences. seems normal to me.

Thank you for bringing this strangeness up. It takes nothing to be kind to each other. But it seems there are a lot of people who just desire to hurt and provoke others when the veil of anonymity is seemingly present. Maybe it just goes along with the collective conscious and collective unconscious that people who are hurting inside but have poor emotional management skills rather just try to spread the internal strife they are feeling. Kind of like a worldwide case of mass psychogenic illness that manifests itself.

I've played Monster Hunter Worlds for years, and the community was and still is great. It is always nice to jump on and help and play with other people. If you go by just what you see when you play online, the community still seems pretty good.

However, lately I've been seeing more flame posts and just toxicity on the forums in general. It seems ever since Wilds came out, the Monster Hunter World forums has become a magnet for people who do not care about being ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to each other. And now that I have started playing this game and visited the forums here, it seems whatever toxicity I noticed in the MH World forums pales in comparison to this online forum.

I have brought up this same point you have made in a few of the forums I sometimes visit on Steam and other places. The most common thing excuse I see is "this is the internet, get used to it." It is a mentally and spiritually lazy excuse to say and accept that just because it is the internet, one can just be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to each other because that is the way it is. The ones being toxic, hateful, and full of anger towards another being probably wouldn't do that to another person face to face. So what is it that makes it okay on the internet? Just because one thinks one cannot be found or identified? It may just come down to a wounded psyche/hurt inner being. Maybe they are extremely immature and still have growing to do. Or maybe the more personality disordered traits present in certain people may come out to light more when they think it is anonymous.

Regardless of whatever the reasons people are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to each other on the internet, that type of behavior is inexcusable and should not be tolerated.

For me, I block anyone who I see being rude, antagonistic, and/or just toxic to other people on any Steam game discussion forum I see. The less I have to interact and deal with such toxicity, the better. If it bothers you OP, I would suggest maybe you should also start blocking the toxic people. There is no need to be entangled in their nastiness and toxicity.

you still havent clarified what an echo chamber is in regards to video games?
It's just people ranting theyr personal views in a topic.

Which is often annoying because it is done in different topics.

Bro read what she said.

She thinks that you can get away with this stuff all the time in real life.

I don't think these people even leave their house.

They live in their own world that isn't the real world where there are consequences to your actions.

"Toxic, toxic, toxic, toxic, toxic...."
Yes, there are definetly people here who take things too far and are overall just hostile. But your comment make it sounds like everyone who simply isn't praising this game is toxic. Which is nonsense. People have their fair share of problems with this game, voicing them isn't hostile or toxic in any way.

Hell, world had so much more than wilds at release, the step down from wilds reminds me of tri content wise.
I have 25 hours in this game and allready don't know what to do now.

I have 140 hours in the game and I'm still happily slapping monsters. I don't even need anything, am learning new styles and joining people's quests to help out. Like, maybe this is what makes a veteran: I actually like playing the game, I don't need it to trigger my pavlovian response. :P

Bro I've seen some of your comments you're just as mean as anyone else. Voicing criticism towards the game is one thing telling someone "waah waah grow up" is another.

People's memories are short. World was slammed for a lack of content, just as much as Wilds is now.
